United Way of Northern Ozaukee raises $9,000 in 24 hours through online donation drive
Community gave to 10 local nonprofits during 24 Hours of Giving from March 17-18
Port Washington, Wis. — United Way of Northern Ozaukee raised more than $9,000 during its 24 Hours of Giving online donation drive.
Forty-two people donated a total of $9,037 from March 17 at noon to March 18 at noon, a 20% increase in giving from last year. Donors chose which of UWNO's 12 partner agencies would receive their gift.
"I am thrilled with the success of our designation day -- not only for the support the community showed for our partners through their generous gifts, but more importantly, for the opportunity UWNO had to showcase the agencies' great work." said Barbara Bates-Nelson, executive director for United Way of Northern Ozaukee. "It is through these highly valued relationships that we collectively drive real change with local resources."
The partner agencies that benefited from the online donation drive are the Adult Literacy Program, Advocates of Ozaukee, Balance Inc., Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ozaukee, Family Sharing, Interfaith Caregivers of Ozaukee, Lake Shore Regional Child Advocacy Center, NAMI of Ozaukee, Ozaukee Family Services, Ozaukee Jail Literacy Program, Portal Inc. and Sirona Recovery. These agencies have been working to address the health, education and financial stability of Ozaukee County residents throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is the second year that UWNO has held 24 Hours of Giving. In the weeks leading up to the event, UWNO spotlighted the work that its partners have been doing to respond and adapt to community needs during the pandemic. Those posts are available on the UWNO Facebook page. While the designation day is over, anyone interesting in supporting UWNO and its 12 community partners can make a donation at any time at unitedwayno.org.
Donations can also be made by sending checks to United Way of Northern Ozaukee, P.O. Box 39, Port Washington, WI 53074 or dropping off the check to any Port Washington State Bank location.
