Greetings From the Director
The changing of the seasons! In all the whirlwind of 2020, I hope you will take a moment to enjoy the beauty that fall offers us. The cooler weather, the festive colors, football and family are things we look forward to in this season. Goodness knows that we need something positive right now! The year 2020 will be one for the record books. A pandemic, one like we have never experienced in the United States, caused fear and panic in many. Schools closed, businesses closed, supermarket shelves were bare or sparse, hospital numbers were critically high and sadly, many lives have been lost. But through it all we have seen our community rally around to support each other. United Way, area churches and community groups worked with the East Alabama Food Bank to feed hundreds of children and families during the early days of the pandemic and into the summer months. Local businesses, Foundations and citizens supported the United Way COVID-19 Crisis Relief Fund as we helped Lee County residents who had lost their job or work hours due to the Pandemic and needed assistance with critical bills. And you helped support our annual school supply BACKPACK program by providing over 350 children with essential supplies when we didn’t know how “school” would look or function this year! As always when you see a need, you are there to help and we are so appreciative to live, work and help to provide support for this wonderful community.

As we kick-off our 2020 United We Fight! United We Win! campaign we solicit your support as we strive to meet the needs of families with the everyday storms of life. We need you on our team, now more than ever! It will take all of us, but together we can make a difference in this sometime scary world we are living in.
So take a minute. Take a breath. Put your mask back on and know that we all have each other’s back!

Happy Fall Y’all.
Becky

Meet Our 2021 Loaned Executives
Loaned Executives are ambassadors of United Way. A Loaned Executive is a volunteer within the community that is the liaison between United Way and local businesses. Our campaign could not be as successful without Loaned Executives, and we are grateful for the hard work they have already put in for this campaign.
