United For Southern Arizona
COVID-19 Fund Community Impact
As the pandemic stretches on, now more than ever before our community's big challenges call for big solutions. In the face of these challenges, your United Way continues to provide emergency funding for community members through the United for Southern Arizona COVID-19 Fund. Funds raised are used to help local individuals and families in crisis due to COVID-19. This week as you read the stories below, remember that Tucson needs you to GIVE BIG and GIVE UNITED.
Community Story Update
Each week we select a story from a member of the community being directly impacted by the United for Southern Arizona COVID-19 Fund.
Sunnyside Educational Foundation: “We recently worked with a mother of two children who has now had COVID twice. The first time, she was out of work for two weeks, but her employer paid her. The second time, she was told she had exhausted her COVID pay and did not receive her full paycheck. She is currently the only one working, and the family is struggling to pay bills. To add to their financial troubles, her car broke down over the weekend, and her next paycheck needs to go towards those repairs. The Sunnyside Educational Foundation is using United Way COVID funds to cover for utility bills to help cushion the blow of the family’s other sudden expenses.”
