This weekend, the Brooklyn Democratic Party held a successful event at the annual SOMOS conference in Puerto Rico.
"We are all one," said Party Chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, as a broad coalition of prominent Democratic leaders gathered to discuss party unity and building back NYC better.
In attendance at the BK Dems' "Sips in Somos" conference were Gov. Kathy Hochul, Mayor-elect Eric Adams, NY AG Letitia James, Mayor Bill de Blasio, U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzales, NYS Assembly Majority Leader Crystal D. Peoples-Stokes, Deputy Brooklyn BP Ingrid Lewis, BK Dems Law Chair Frank Carone, all five borough Dem chairs (Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, Greg Meeks, Jamaal Bailey, Michael Cusick and Keith Wright), among other prominent Dem leaders and activists.
Eric Adams, who kicked off the event speech, thanked Party Chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn for helping to unify the Democratic Party and working with businesses to aid NYC's recovery.
Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor-elect Eric Adams vowed to fight together alongside Brooklyn electeds to usher in a robust and inclusive recovery for our borough and city--a sentiment broadly echoed by other politicians in attendance.
“I have a headline for you…,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said. “Governor of New York stops fighting with Mayor of New York and instead, together we fight for New York.”
"Democrats of all stripes have formed a united front to help New York City and State recover from the pandemic by uplifting ALL New Yorkers," said Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn today. "The Brooklyn Democratic Party is steadfastly ensuring that we work with all leaders to build a stronger and more equitable borough for everyone."
