A Celebration of Legacy, Community, and Hope on MLK Day

ACM helps commemorate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at the annual parade in Southeast Washington, D.C.

This year’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade brought out the very best of our community. Check out the video to hear from ACM staff and see families celebrating together, young people stepping up with pride, and our team members working with purpose.

The video above shows the full spectrum of who we are—committed and united grassroots leaders honoring Dr. King’s legacy. This is just a glimpse of that spirit, showcasing moments of joy, solidarity, and connection that defined the parade from start to finish.

You know that change doesn't "just happen." We appreciate your years of continued generosity and support.

Hear why ACM Chief of Staff Stanley Jones believes an investment in our youth is the key to our future

In his video message, ACM Chief of Staff and Program Coordinator Stanley Jones shares a powerful truth: meaningful change doesn’t happen by accident — it happens because people choose to step forward.

From his unique vantage point within ACM and his deep roots in the community, Stan explains why he continues to invest his time, leadership, and personal support into this work, and why now is a pivotal moment for expanding our impact. When you watch it, you feel invited into the mission — called in, not called out.

We encourage you to watch and share Stan’s message, help spread the word, and, if you feel inspired, consider joining him in supporting ACM.

"Giving Back Is a Way of Life"

Meet the supporters who made our holiday gift drive a success and continue to propel us forward.

Every month, we spotlight the partners and volunteers who make ACM’s mission come alive — and this month, we’re handing the mic to those who made our holiday gift drive a success: Brendt Johnson Sr., Brendt Johnson, and William Reynolds. Each shares a simple truth: giving back isn’t just about showing up once. It’s about being present, being accountable, and believing in the power of second chances. From mentoring young men to stepping up at community events, they remind us that one person can change the trajectory of a life. Their stories fuel our purpose — and we hope they’ll inspire yours, too.

Leading With Heart, Building With Purpose

Meet the women who are working to shape a stronger, safer, more confident generation, in and out of school

The women of ACM continue to be a force of nature; right now, they’re leading our after-school programs and preparing our summer 2026 programming to help our youth be better in and out of school, equipped with conflict resolution tools. Their mentorship goes far beyond homework help — they teach communication, self‑respect, and real-world problem‑solving.

A Winter Storm of Kindness

Youth and mentors step up to help senior neighbors who need an extra hand after heavy snow

When winter storms hit D.C. last week, ACM youth, mentors, and volunteers bundled up, grabbed their shovels, and got to work. The Snow Shoveling for Seniors initiative is one of our favorite community traditions — it’s simple, it’s needed, and it teaches our young people the value of service. From clearing icy steps to digging out sidewalks, they helped seniors stay safe and mobile through the cold snap.

We want to hear from you!
