We hope this newsletter finds you and your loved ones well amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. As we continue to navigate uncharted waters through remote learning for our Flagship students while developing new ways to best support them, we are also planning for an unknown future. The reality is, Fall at Unity College could look very different for our incoming Flagship students, and we’re working diligently to ensure they will get the Unity College experience regardless of modality. The Unity College outside-the-box approach to higher education serves us well as we tackle these challenges!

Since emerging as a viable business in 2014, the hemp industry has been on the rise, and by 2022 it is estimated that hemp will be a $2 billion market in the United States. Despite what many consumers believe, hemp is more than just CBD and infused products, it can also be used as a sustainable alternative to plastics, and has the potential to be an innovative and environmentally-friendly resource that has yet to be fully explored.

"This year is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and as America’s Environmental College we cannot let that pass without celebrating,” said President Dr. Melik Peter Khoury. “I know we traditionally do this as a campus community, but due to current health and safety restrictions we need to modify our celebration this year, so, we are participating in and encouraging you to participate in the Campus Ecochallenge.” You can sign up at

. Unity College is competing against hundreds of other schools and thousands of participants.

With ongoing developments in the COVID-19 pandemic, Unity College will hold a virtual commencement this year, in addition to an Aug. 1 in-person commencement ceremony at the College's Flagship campus in Unity. According to a letter posted on Unity College's website, President Dr. Melik Peter Khoury said that while the idea that commencement might not happen this year was “just not acceptable,” given the current situation, the annual recognition and celebration held in the school's gymnasium was not feasible. Watching graduates come back to campus and share their experiences, he said, as well as meeting many of the distance learning students for the first time, are hallmarks of commencement.
