EPIC Training Instructions:

- Click the respective training Link based on your specialty area(s)
- Everyone must complete the attestation form available at the beginning of the training module
- By answering “Yes”, you confirm the information being attested is accurate and you qualify for training exemption.
- By answering “No”, you do not request a training exemption.
- Complete all required training modules related to your experience or area of specialty. For example, if you have ED and Med Surg experiences, you must complete both ED nurse and Adult Med Surg Nurse training; for ICU, complete the ICU training etc.
EPIC Systems Training Exemption Instructions
- To request an exemption, you must have EPIC experience within the last twelve months, at another healthcare organization, in a similar role, with a related patient population and/or duties to the one performed at Unity Health.
- To qualify for an exemption, You, (the end users) must sign the exemption (Attestation) form available at the beginning of the training module, and successfully complete the End User Proficiency Assessment (EUPA).
How to request an exemption:
1..Exemption Attestation Form: Review exemption attestation form on page 2 and select “Yes” if you meet the criteria from the approved list of healthcare organizations.
2..For EPIC Experience Outside Ontario: If your EPIC experience is from a location outside Ontario but within Canada, please email EPREducation@unityhealth.to to request an exemption approval before completing the attestation form.
Your request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
3..EUPA: After submitting the exemption attestation form, you will proceed to complete the EUPA.
- Exempted end users will have a maximum of two consecutive attempts in a single session to score eighty percent or higher on the EUPA.
- If unsuccessful, the end user MUST complete EPIC systems training as per their role at Unity Health.
- The EUPA is not time limited and can be paused at any time by clicking “Leave Test” and choosing to save your answers. You will then be able to resume the EUPA and continue from where you left.
4..Login Lab: Upon successfully passing the EUPA, you will need to
complete a login lab in the LMS to confirm your EPIC login information.
5..If Unsuccessful on EUPA: If you do not pass the EUPA within 2
attempts, you must register for EPIC Systems Training. For assistance, please contact EPREducation@unityhealth.to
Access to EPIC:
User access to EPIC will be provided once the EUPA and a Login Lab are successfully completed. Login Lab is a pre-go live activity to ensure end-users can log into EPIC and have the appropriate security.
Sample EPIC System Training Exemption Attestation Form
Unity Health Toronto is committed to providing EPIC systems training to ensure end users are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their role. Comprehensive end user training can minimize the risk of system-related incidents and teach best practices for proficient use of the system to ensure the safe delivery of care. This attestation form is available for end users who have met the criteria below and are requesting to opt-out of EPIC systems training at Unity Health.
I request an exemption from the EPIC Systems Training at Unity Health. I attest to having equivalent training and prior EPIC experience within the last twelve months, at another healthcare organization in a similar role with related patient population and/or operational duties, to the one I am working in at Unity Health.
I confirm I have equivalent EPIC experience from one of the health care organizations, such as:
- Mackenzie Health, Women’s College Hospital, Hospital for Sick Children, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, University Health Network, Trillium Health Partners, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, Hamilton Health Sciences, Scarborough Health Network, Ross Memorial Hospital, Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Northumberland Hills Hospital, Lakeridge Health, Haliburton Highlands Health Services, Campbellford Memorial Hospital, and The Ottawa Hospital or a partner within Ottawa region.
- Alberta Health Services
- Experience outside of Ontario but within Canada that has been approved by the EPR Education team.
I confirm I have experience and proficiency in using the system for the role I am performing at Unity Health.
I acknowledge I will have only two consecutive attempts in a single session to complete the end user proficiency assessment and must achieve a score of eighty percent or higher to pass. If I am unsuccessful, I will need to complete the required EPIC systems training for my role at Unity Health and subsequently pass the end user proficiency assessment with a score of eighty percent or higher.
By answering “Yes”, I confirm the information being attested is accurate and I qualify for training exemption.
By answering “No”, I do not request a training exemption.
