WEEKLY UPDATE April 14, 2026

A Reminder...

We live on a planet where trees whisper warnings to one another through mycelial networks. Where octopuses dream, and whales call each other by name.

Where elephants mourn their lost, standing in silent vigil over the bones of their kin. Where bees dance the way to the flowers, and crows remember faces, never forgetting a slight.

Where ants build vast metropolises, cats purr at the exact frequency of healing, and the forest’s first breath after a fire is a bloom of flowers.

After all this, it seems strange to believe there is no room for miracles in this world.

The latest NASA imagery: The Earth as seen from Artemis II. You can see the glow of cities and the aurora dancing at the poles. But nowhere — not anywhere — can you see the borders of countries, religions, or nations.

Imagine all the people living life in peace.

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.

I hope some day you'll join us.

And the world will be as one. ~John Lennon

Chaplains Corner

By letting go of self-limiting beliefs, you create room for growth and transformation. With practice, you can transform your self-image and cultivate a mindset of positivity and possibility like never before. Practicing releases and affirmations is not always easy. It requires patience and a willingness to confront discomfort. But with consistency and perseverance, it can gradually rewire your thought patterns. I cocreate my life with positive intentions.

Greeter Opportunity at UWSC

For the past four years, Tommy and Fran Rodan have shared their warm smiles and welcoming presence as greeters for our Sunday services. As they prepare to relocate to be closer to their grandchildren, we are so grateful for all they have given to our community.

UWSC is now seeking volunteers to step into this important role on the 4th Sunday of each month. If you feel called to help welcome others into our spiritual home, we would love to hear from you! If you are interested, please contact Jude Eastman.

Unity Williamsburg Spiritual Center graciously accepts love offerings during Sunday Services and special events, online through paypal.me/UnityWilliamsburg, Zeffy, and by check, mailed to 624 Queens Creek Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23185.

Message from the Board

This past Sunday, Rev. Denise shared a powerful message on Reclaiming Our Sovereignty, weaving in the Celtic tale of the Selkies. In the story, a Selkie woman’s seal skin is taken from her, preventing her from returning to the sea—the place her soul longs to be. Though she builds a life on land, something within her continues to call her home.

Rev. Denise beautifully likened this to our own soul journeys. In the noise and distractions of the world, it can be easy to lose touch with that inner knowing—our sense of purpose, truth, and belonging. Through a guided meditation—a “date” with our soul—she invited us to reconnect with that deeper voice within, reminding us that the path back is always available.

Canda’s sharing of the song “I’m Not Lost, I’m Exploring” by Jana Stanfield echoed these themes so perfectly—offering a gentle reframe for those moments when we feel uncertain or untethered.

If you weren’t able to join us, I encourage you to watch the livestream on Facebook or our YouTube channel. It is truly worth experiencing.

We also took time to bless our dear community members, Tommy and Fran Rodan, as they continue their journey to Florida. We are so grateful for the many ways they have served UWSC—with joyful hearts and open spirits. While we will miss their regular presence, we look forward to welcoming them back whenever life brings them our way again.

The world has changed so quickly in recent years, and it’s understandable if we sometimes feel off balance or a bit lost. I know I am deeply grateful for the sanctuary of UWSC—a community of dear friends and chosen family that offers a safe harbor to reground, reconnect, and explore new ideas and perspectives.

We have so many wonderful speakers and events planned in the months ahead. Be sure to keep an eye on our social media, the flyers in the foyer, and this newsletter so you don’t miss a thing.

Namaste,

A
