WEEKLY UPDATE June 3, 2025

Unity Principle Three ~ Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking. Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought.

As a child of God, I have inherent creative powers. With my thinking, I envision my success. I see with the eye of Spirit, and I behold Spirit at work in and through all. My mental pictures are filled with images of abundance, health, peace, joy, and love. I see and feel myself claiming the good that I seek. God desires only complete fulfillment for me, and I center my thoughts on the vision I hold of my greatest good.

Affirmation: Thoughts held in mind produce after their kind.

It's story time! This Sunday Ingrid and Duncan Hamra will bring multiples copies of the "The Birthday of the World," a children's story about finding light in everyone and everything by Rachel Namoi Remen. Duncan shares, "We'll read together in small groups for 5-10-minutes and then discuss. Our two goals are to 1) share this lovely story and 2) create an opportunity to learn about each other in conversation."

"We're Ingrid and Duncan Hamra, and this is our last session before we have a baby this July! We're excited to spend Sunday with our friends in community."

As I share the gifts that God has given me, I become a gift to the world. Today I celebrate life and give thanks for the maturity and wisdom that each new day brings. I honor the lives I have touched, the people who have befriended me, and the special creation of God that each one of us is. I celebrate life and the wisdom that each day brings me.

Message from the Board

Sunday’s service invited us into an inspiring exploration of the power of dreams—not just the ones we have while we sleep, but also those inner callings and symbols that guide us toward healing, purpose, and spiritual growth. It was a time filled with insight and reflection.

Following the service, we were blessed to host the Dream Workshop that was both well-attended and deeply meaningful. Participants tapped into their creativity and intuition, exploring the symbolism of their dreams through the art of mandala creation. The energy in Fellowship Hall was joyful, curious, and centered—each person walking away with a piece of personal insight reflected in color and form (and sparkles!). Thank you to all who participated and helped create such a nurturing, sacred space for sharing and self-discovery.

If you're looking for another beautiful way to connect with your body, mind, and spirit this week, I personally recommend attending our new Chair Yoga class with Jamie Fitzwater. I went to the first session last week and left feeling so relaxed, grounded, and restored—it truly felt like a mini-vacation in the middle of the week. Whether you're experienced with yoga or brand new, this class is accessible, gentle, and heart-centered.

Looking ahead, we have an exciting month of speakers, workshops, and community gatherings lined up. Be sure to mark your calendars and invite your friends and family to join us. The energy of summer is rising, and we’ll be celebrating that light with another special Celtic Summer Solstice service later this month, along with other opportunities for spiritual inspiration and exploration.

As always, I am so grateful for the many ways this community shows up—with open hearts, willing hands, and a shared intention to grow, heal, and uplift. Unity Williamsburg is truly a place where love lives and Spirit moves.

With love and gratitude,

A

Ray Whipple - Soaring in Faith and Adventure

This week, we celebrate a truly remarkable member of the UWSC family—Ray Whipple. Since his first jump in 1963, Ray has taken to the skies more than 1,800 times, making him not only a seasoned skydiver but a living example of living life to the fullest. His latest jump was right before Mother's Day. Ray says he has been blessed with good health and he gives thanks for it every day.

With every leap, Ray reminds us of what it means to trust completely. His courage, joy, and unwavering faith inspire us all to step boldly into life’s adventures, both great and small.

We’re thankful for Ray’s vibrant spirit and his incredible journey through the clouds. May we all be inspired to take our own leaps of faith!

Let's Lift Up Lin!

Our longtime member and beloved seasonal decorator, Lin Pearson, has recently been moved to Williamsburg Post Acute and Rehabilitation to continue her recovery after a prolonged illness.

We’d love to shower Lin with another wave of cards and notes filled with encouragement and well wishes to lift her spirits during this healing time.

Please join us in sending your kind words to:

Williamsburg Post Acute and Rehabilitation

Attn: Lin Pearson

Lin doesn’t have family nearby, so calls and visits are also warmly welcomed. Let’s surround her with the love and care that defines our UWSC community.

Brian Lottman Returns to UWSC

We’re delighted to welcome back Brian Lottman, the wandering monk who inspired many during his visit to UWSC last year.

For those unfamiliar with his story, in 2012 Brian left behind a successful business career and a comfortable home to follow a spiritual calling. Now known as the “American Sadhu,” he travels across the U.S. and Canada offering talks and kirtan-style chanting at churches, yoga studios, meditation groups, schools, and healing centers. His mission is to help others reconnect with their Essential Nature—the divine truth within each of us.

Brian will be in the Williamsburg area from Thursday, June 12 to Tuesday, June 17, offering another powerful talk and workshop during his stay.

As part of his simple monastic lifestyle, Brian requests only modest accommodations. If you are willing and able to host Brian for a night or more during his visit, please contact Amy Shao.

Let’s once again open our hearts—and perhaps our homes—to support this sacred journey.

Thank you for being part of our spiritual community at Unity Williamsburg Spiritual Center! If you’ve had a positive experience us, would you consider leaving a Google review? It would mean a lot to us and help others discover our center. Thank you so much!
