Message from the Minister

Affirmation: I live a life of gratitude.

Expressing gratitude is essential to my spiritual practice. No matter where I go or what I do, I take time to give thanks. Feeling grateful throughout the day keeps me focused on my blessings and the presence of God in and through all things.

Today I will pause to feel grateful for everyone and everything that has helped make my journey what it is. I will let those in my life know just how much their presence means to me and how grateful I am for them.

I will continue to practice the presence of God by centering my thoughts every few moments with prayers of gratitude and thanksgiving. These thoughts help me rise above whatever I may be facing, and give me a feeling of deep peace.

UWSC Calendar of Sunday Services and Events

Sunday, November 27      Rev. Denise Creech

This Sunday the Advent season begins. It is a time of anticipation, a waiting. A time to strengthen our relationships and deepen our commitment to our Spiritual journey.

Our theme this year is The Sacredness of All Things and I will be using the book Sacred Earth, Sacred Soul by John Philip Newell. I will, also, be sharing with you information from a class on The Shift Network Sanctify Your Holiday Season by Alexander John Shaia, PhD. Both of these works combine early Celtic Christianity and ancient Celtic spiritual traditions.

Mr. Newell states in his book that “Our path to well-being is not about becoming something other than ourselves or about acquiring a spiritual knowledge that is essentially foreign to us. It is about waking up to the knowledge that is deep in the very fabric of our being, and it is about living in relation to this wisdom.”

Join us at UWSC during this magical time of the year as we take a look at the roots of many of our traditions; light our Advent candles and sing our Christmas carols; and then, on Christmas Eve we will celebrate the birth of Jesus, our Way-shower, and our own re-birth!

Bright Blessings to All, Rev. Denise

No matter the circumstance, Thanksgiving can be observed as a sacred day of gratitude, when we come to the table with love and appreciation for friends and family and life itself.

Anytime we sit down to eat, whether alone or with others, taking a moment to bless the meal and express thankfulness for abundance allows our hearts to pause on the good in the world.

Thanksgiving Table Grace

For the food that fills us, for the joy that lifts us, for the ties that bind us, and for the love that blesses us, we are so grateful. Amen.  —Rev. Teresa Burton

Grateful for the Food of Body and Soul

In prayer, we join our hearts and minds in a vast field of gratitude—thankful for this food, those who produced it, those who prepared it, and for friends and family with whom we share it. We are immensely grateful for this bounty that feeds our bodies and these cherished friends who feed our souls. —Rev. Paul Hasselbeck

A Thanksgiving Meal

A serving of love to bring worldwide harmony to all people.

A serving of life to give energy and vitality to our bodies.

A serving of strength to persevere through dark days and difficult times.

A serving of faith to know that God will never leave nor forsake us.

Fill your plates, eat well! Refills are available!  —Blanche Kimble-Wilson

Chapter 9 – The Money Enigma

What do people worry about most? Money!

What makes people the happiest? Money!

What makes people the unhappiest? Money!

You may say this does not include you, for your mind is stayed on God as ever-present substance. But no matter how lofty your spiritual ideals may be, no matter how many powerful affirmations of Truth you can speak by rote, you still have to pay your bills.

Get the positive thought: Money is good! Money is God in action! Speak these words over a few times. It is not to make an object of getting money or loving money for itself. We simply want to eliminate some of the negatives with which we have surrounded it. Money is good! You don’t have to feel guilty about having it. It is a currency or creative flow of divine activity.

Take stock of all your references of money. It is often said about some financial commitment, “Oh, it’s only money!” It is a subtle put-down. Feel good about making contact with the divine current. (Note that “current” gives rise to the word currency.)

Handle currency with the joyous feeling that you are in the flow.

Appreciate it, bless it, keep open to its flow.
