WEEKLY UPDATE November 26, 2024 | |
Gratitude is my natural state of mind.
What joy it is to feel gratitude rising from my heart and filling my mind. Feeling grateful makes me aware of the all-encompassing presence of God, including the Divine within me. When I live from my spiritual nature, gratitude becomes the song of my heart.
I don’t need to wait for a reason to feel grateful. When I live with an attitude of gratitude, I find the good in every situation, the blessing that can come from any adversity, and the presence of God in every aspect of life.
Practicing gratitude opens my eyes to the blessings that are present and opens my heart to receive even more. I give thanks for an unlimited world, blissful peace, and perfect wholeness.
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! - Psalm 95:2

Join us this Sunday, December 1st, for a fun, reflective look back on this beautiful year we've shared together at Unity Williamsburg Spiritual Center!
You'll have the opportunity to begin reflecting back on some of your favorite events from the year and to provide celebratory feedback with facilitators Duncan and Ingrid Hamra. Our goal is to hold up what we loved most in 2024 so we can carry it forward into next year. We will share the findings with the board and future spiritual leader.
If you are unable to attend in person, please check next week's newsletter to get access to a public Google Doc that will remain accessible through December 31st, 2024. The document will contain all of the collected feedback and show you how to add your own. Note: there will be a separate and private space for constructive feedback online.
Platform Assistant: Lynda Birckhead
Chaplain: Jane Siegel
Greeter: Jane Siegel
Openers/Closers: Christopher Shao & Amy Shao
For those who wish to tithe before or after the service, go to paypal.me/UnityWilliamsburg or Zeffy.

With gratitude, I release the past and welcome the future.
Life is in forward motion, always changing in ways big and small. To resist these changes is to stagnate, cease growing, and cling to the past. When I think of my life in this way, I realize that holding on to things I no longer need or use, resisting new ideas, and staving off change stifles my growth and keeps me from the joy of living fully. Release is not about losing the past. It is about embracing the present and eagerly welcoming the future. Understanding this, I feel more comfortable letting things go. Aligning myself with life helps me look forward to new experiences with readiness and enthusiasm. I bless the past and the person I was. I welcome the future and the person I will become.

Message from the Board
Thank you to all who turned out on Saturday for our Fall Clean-up Day! It was a beautiful day to work outside together building commUnity - and the pizza was a big hit, too. We'll have another opportunity to work inside together to change out our Fall decorations for the Winter/Holiday season after service and fellowship on Sunday. We welcome helping hands of all ages, sizes and abilities!
This time of year is a special time of Gratitude and Grace. As Rev. Washington shared on Sunday, remembering the many things we have to be grateful for in our lives shifts our perspective and even our trajectory, to embrace our daily lives and our future with hope. We also recognize that this season can be challenging for those who may have strained relationships in families or are separated from loved ones not able to share in festivities. So this is also a time of Grace - taking time to take a breath - knowing that we only walk in our own shoes and can't know the lives and worries of those around us. When we can't understand the "why", our faith in our Oneness and shared Divine spark urges us to love and show kindness anyway - extending the Grace to others that we hope will be shared with us when we need it, too.
Safe travels and Happy Thanksgiving UWSC family and friends!

Zeffy is a fee-free donation portal specifically for non-profits. This means 100% of your love offering comes to UWSC. There will be cards with the scannable QR codes in the Sanctuary on Sunday like the one pictured. By scanning the QR code, you are taken to a donation page where you can choose a one time or recurring donation and amount. You do not need to create an account. Once you submit your donation, you will receive an immediate "Thank You" email with a downloadable tax-deductible donation receipt for your records.
So give it a try and let the Board know what you think!
