University Bound: Pamela is on a Purposeful Mission!

As summer fades and the days grow shorter, the excitement and anticipation of a new school year begins to build across the globe. In the United States, students and families are busy shopping for school supplies, finalizing schedules, and getting ready for the annual back-to-school rituals. This transition is a unique and exhilarating experience that unites us all.

In Africa, the back-to-school season is equally dynamic and often shaped by local traditions and climactic conditions. Families prepare for the school year amidst diverse environments and varying resources. In rural areas, school preparations involve community gatherings and hopes that students will have the necessary materials and support they need to be successful in the classroom. The generosity of Child Legacy's donors enables us to support the educational needs of our orphans at Chingele Children's Home in Zimbabwe. We are blessed to share Pamela's story with you today.

"Chingele Children's Home

is my true family. I really appreciate all the love, care, and support they have showered me with. They supported me in everything to become who I am today."

One of the many arms of CLI’s holistic work is providing love and shelter to orphans through the Chingele Children’s Home. At the tender age of 6, Pamela was brought into our care. Her biological father was unknown and her mother died when she was just 3 years old. She was left in the custody of her grandfather along with some of her cousins where she endured physical abuse before being brought to us by Social Welfare.

From early on, Pamela showed that she was hardworking and smart by readily embracing assignments and completing them with minimal supervision. She quickly became a high achiever and performed excellently in her annual exams. As she grew, it was clear she was a special young lady whose good character and positivity impacted others at our children’s home. Despite the trauma in her early years, before she came to us, Pamela became like an older sister, happily providing love, encouragement, and direction to the younger children not only in their schooling, but also with housekeeping, cooking, and church activities. Her dedication to helping teach others and encourage them in their faith shows her deep devotion and ability to love.

Child Legacy sent Pamela to high school in Chiredzi because it offers a better program than the local school and now having completed her studies there, she is about to begin an exciting new chapter in her life. She will be attending the National University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo! There, she will pursue a degree in Operations Research and Statistics. Upon completion of the program, she will use the advanced mathematical and analytical skills she learns to help organizations solve problems and make better decisions. She has a strong sense of hope and purpose for her future.

A heartfelt thank-you from Pamela!

The gratitude Pamela feels towards Child Legacy and the staff at Chingele Children’s Home is evident as she considers it her first home and true family. She happily shares about the care and support she has received, which has been such a huge part of making her the young woman she is today. She continues to do all she can to give to others that which she was freely given. She also hopes to adopt at least one child of her own from our children's home in the future and to be one of the first former residents to become a donor after graduation.

Pamela's story is a testament to the power of hope and how a life can be transformed by love and trust in God. Her dedication, care for the other children she has grown up with, and commitment to giving back exemplify her remarkable character and make her a true role model. What a blessing to be a part of her story. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for this wonderful young woman and we thank you for your support as it transforms lives like Pamela's everyday!

As children grow, their needs evolve and often become more complex. Many of the children in our care are reaching an age where they require additional support and we need YOU to help us make a difference in their lives. Please donate today!

Advancements in Education and Training at our Malawi Campus This Summer

Education is vital to children and adults alike. This summer, our latest sewing legacy class graduated after an eight-month course. These students were equipped with tailoring skills, business knowledge, and their own sewing machines, setting them up for future success. This life-changing program takes destitute women and empowers them with a skill and a renewed hope. Thank you for making the impossible, possible.

Child Legacy remains committed to addressing educational challenges head-on. At our Primary School, our licensed teachers deliver age-appropriate curriculum and ensure students have essential learning supplies. They also strive to make learning fun by emphasizing memorization through songs that reinforce important values.

Oklahoma State University Medical Students at Child Legacy Hospital

Oklahoma State University medical students traveled to Malawi to serve at Child Legacy Community Hospital, immersing themselves in a new healthcare environment and engaging in meaningful service. Working alongside local professionals, the students addressed community health challenges and gained hands-on experience. They participated in various medical activities, contributing to patient care, treating common illnesses, performing procedures, and assisting with preventive care and childbirth. Jeff Rogers, CEO and co-founder, organized a luncheon to connect the interns with Child Legacy staff, fostering meaningful connections and offering the interns valuable insights into healthcare in a developing country.

Your support provides healthcare, education, and employment to the people of rural Africa everyday. We cannot do it without you.
