One of the many arms of CLI’s holistic work is providing love and shelter to orphans through the Chingele Children’s Home. At the tender age of 6, Pamela was brought into our care. Her biological father was unknown and her mother died when she was just 3 years old. She was left in the custody of her grandfather along with some of her cousins where she endured physical abuse before being brought to us by Social Welfare.
From early on, Pamela showed that she was hardworking and smart by readily embracing assignments and completing them with minimal supervision. She quickly became a high achiever and performed excellently in her annual exams. As she grew, it was clear she was a special young lady whose good character and positivity impacted others at our children’s home. Despite the trauma in her early years, before she came to us, Pamela became like an older sister, happily providing love, encouragement, and direction to the younger children not only in their schooling, but also with housekeeping, cooking, and church activities. Her dedication to helping teach others and encourage them in their faith shows her deep devotion and ability to love.
Child Legacy sent Pamela to high school in Chiredzi because it offers a better program than the local school and now having completed her studies there, she is about to begin an exciting new chapter in her life. She will be attending the National University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo! There, she will pursue a degree in Operations Research and Statistics. Upon completion of the program, she will use the advanced mathematical and analytical skills she learns to help organizations solve problems and make better decisions. She has a strong sense of hope and purpose for her future.
