University Budget Process Update

ISU Colleagues,

Last fall, ISU began a multi-month listening phase where all employees were asked to provide input on current and upcoming budget challenges through interactive listening sessions and a feedback survey. I am proud of the unprecedented number of members of the University community engaged in this process, offering thoughtful and constructive feedback that reflects our shared commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and engagement.

This process helped identify opportunities that led to the creation of the Bold Path Forward. Together. I am confident that ISU’s budget realignment and revenue-generation strategies, discussed in this video and on the Budget Planning and FAQs Website, prioritize long-term structural alignment to support efficiency, clarity, and strategic reinvestment in ISU’s mission. I also recognize that these changes bring uncertainty, stress, and, for some, very real hardship for members of our Bengal community. These decisions were made only after careful and thoughtful consideration of every alternative available. Please watch the video in its entirety for more information and an understanding of our complete budget reduction responses.

As we move forward with the strategic initiatives discussed in my video presentation, I invite you to continue participating in the process and assist with implementation. Along with joining upcoming discussions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to University leaders in your area to learn more about ISU’s Bold Path Forward. Together.

Sincerely,

President Robert W. Wagner
