Marian Bear Park Genesee Avenue Parking Lot Temporarily Closed Due to Pure Water Construction

For the safety of the public, the Genesee Avenue parking lot at Marian Bear Park will be temporarily closed beginning Wednesday, Dec. 21 for the Morena Northern Pipelines & Tunnels project, part of Pure Water San Diego. Construction will be ongoing, and it is estimated the parking lot will reopen by August 31, 2023. This timeline is subject to change – please check back for more information.

Update on SDG&E Gas Line Relocation Work for North City Pure Water Facility Project

SDG&E is continuing work to relocate a gas line on Eastgate Mall as part of the North City Pure Water Facility project. The work is occuring at night, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday nights to Thursday nights through January 2023. Service interruptions are not anticipated to occur.

For public safety, Eastgate Mall is fully closed from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
One lane will open with a traffic flagger from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m.

For the safety of the public and construction crews, drivers should obey the posted traffic limit and stay alert for flaggers in the area that will direct traffic flow. Pedestrians and bicyclists should avoid the construction zone at night.

About Pure Water San Diego

Pure Water San Diego is the City of San Diego’s phased, multi-year program that will provide nearly half of San Diego’s water supply locally by 2035. Pure Water San Diego will use proven water purification technology to clean recycled water to produce safe, high-quality drinking water. The Program offers a cost-effective investment for San Diego’s water needs and will provide a reliable, sustainable water supply.

Phase 1 includes several projects that will clean recycled water to produce 30 million gallons per day (mgd) of high-quality purified water, reducing the City of San Diego’s dependence on imported water.
