CONSTRUCTION NOTICE:

Weekend Full Road Closure on Genesee Avenue and SR-52 for Morena Northern Pipelines and Tunnels Project

From Friday, April 11, to Monday, April 14, the City of San Diego's contractor will conduct 72 hours of work on Genesee Avenue at Marian Bear Park as part of the Pure Water San Diego Morena Northern Pipelines and Tunnels Project. Crews will install a sewer bypass in southbound lanes and install pipelines in the northbound lanes across Genesee Avenue from Marian Bear Park.

 

Genesee Avenue between the SR-52 ramps will be closed for 72 hours. Crews will work 24 hours per day to complete the work as quickly as possible to minimize public disruption. The closure will commence at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 11.

 

What to Expect:

  • Northbound traffic on Genesee Avenue will be directed to SR-52 East and detoured to the Nobel Drive exit off I-805 North.
  • Southbound traffic on Genesee Avenue will be directed to SR-52 West and detoured to Regents Road.
  • Single southbound lane on Genesee Avenue will reopen to traffic once the sewer bypass is installed.
  • Detour signs will be placed at Governor Drive and Appleton Street and Caltrans will place detour signage on SR-52 and I-805.
  • For safety reasons, please follow all posted signage and detours.
  • Flaggers will be onsite to assist cyclist and pedestrian traffic through the work area.
  • 24/7 access for emergency vehicles will be maintained.
  • Please anticipate traffic delays and construction noise.
