Updates for April 27, 2020
UTSA is responding to the COVID-19 outbreak with a commitment to supporting the safety of the university community while enabling the academic progress of students. Here is your digest of university news and tips.
EVALUATIONS REMINDER: Student course evaluations have been suspended for the spring 2020 semester only.
PICTURE PERFECT: If you’re missing campus, we’ve created some campus-inspired and spirit-themed virtual backgrounds for Zoom to help you feel connected with other Roadrunners while taking courses or working remotely.
MEMENTOS FOR GRADS: If you’re graduating this semester and would like a campus photo in your regalia, it’s possible; however, there are important conditions to observe. Shoots must be done outside and individually only—if all individuals are maintaining appropriate social distancing and taking necessary precautions, including wearing a mask. Your mask can be removed for the actual photo and then replaced. To comply with social distancing guidelines, group shots or shots inside buildings are not allowed. Afterward, be sure to use hand sanitizer or wash your hands. For additional safety refrain from getting in the Sombrilla Fountain or climbing on the Roadrunner statue.
COMING UP: Social distancing and remote learning don’t mean that you have to miss out, not with these speaker and town hall events, all being delivered directly to you.
  • Transforming Fear into Power with Dima Ghawi: When the H1N1 virus hit in 2009, Ghawi was affected by it and had to be hospitalized for a month and a half. In that time she went through a lot of self-reflection and decided to make changes in her life. Spots are limited, so be sure to RSVP. Tuesday, April 28, noon.

  • How to Find Jobs in a COVID-19 World: Searching for a job or internship can be challenging, but our experts are here to help. For the next town hall in the Roadrunners Seeking Careers series, a University Career Center team will share resources for your search and answer questions about the job and internship markets. Tuesday, April 28, 2 p.m.

  • Beating COVID-19: How Close Are We?: The next town hall in the Community Conversations series takes a look at efforts to end the coronavirus pandemic. Many of our nation’s top scientific minds are focused on developing solutions to combat COVID-19, including several UTSA faculty who are actively working to develop predictive models, drug therapies and vaccines. A Q&A session with panel experts will be included. Wednesday, April 29, noon.

And watch recordings of previously streamed webinars and town halls by UTSA experts.
