Greetings!
#GivingTuesday is an opportunity for people around the world to use their individual power of generosity to remain connected with each other and support their communities.

Whether you support our mission by sharing our message, volunteering your time or making monetary donations you have been an integral part of the HSLM community. Without your support we would not be able to provide a warm bed, nutritious meals, or lifesaving veterinary care to the animals that arrive to HSLM.

Giving is worth more than the gift!
This #GivingTuesday we need your help to change the lives of at-risk animals in our community. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to provide on-going shelter and care for pets in our community.

The past 20 months have been difficult but our community has proven to be strong. We came together, we gave together and we change lives together. We thank you for giving our shelter pets hope this holiday season.

Your generosity today will change their lives tomorrow!
Chip needs your help this #GivingTuesday...

Meet Chip, a 1-year old pit bull, who arrived to HSLM in early September 2021 via owner surrender. Although this lovable and sweet girl would make a great addition to any loving family she is unable to be adopted in our province due to Bill 132 within the Dog Owners' Liability Act (DOLA).
Bill 132 within DOLA was brought into effect in 2005, and within this Bill pit bull's are listed as a restricted breed to own in Ontario. However, recently Doug Ford’s government has eased regulations related to the province’s pit bull ban, allowing seized dogs that look like the prohibited breed to be released to their owners while formal breed determination is being conducted.

Although whoever meets Chip falls in love with her fun and playful personality, she will need to be transferred to a province within Canada that does not enforce this specific breed ban. The cost of Chip's care and transportation is significantly higher than the average pet who visits HSLM and we need your help to send her off on the right paw.

The HSLM team is hard at work organizing the details for Chip's transfer out of province. Together we can ensure that Chip finds her forever family in a place where she will not be judged by her breed.

HSLM is not funded by the government so we are asking you to please consider making a donation to help cover the cost of care and transportation for Chip and other pets like her.

With your help we will give Chip hope for the holidays!
