Mark your calendars for an amazing event happening on July 1st from 12 PM to 4 PM, right in the heart of Black Diamond, WA. It's the Ten Trails Independence Day Celebration!! WAMAL will be the featured animal rescue!!

We’ve teamed up with the Maple Valley Mud Bay store (24107 SE Kent Kangley Rd, Maple Valley, WA) where you'll find a wish list for suggested items that our pups could really use! The event organizers are raffling off a $300 Visa Gift Card and other fantastic prizes for anyone who donates items from our wish list, who makes a monetary donation to our gift card at Mud Bay, or who donates directly to us at the event. You’re welcome to bring your item donations to our booth or leave them at Mud Bay and we’ll grab them later. Make sure to fill out your entry ticket so you don’t miss out on the raffle.
And don’t miss out on the highlight of the day, the Pup Parade starting at 1 PM. We’re inviting all of you and your adorable pups to participate on behalf of WAMAL—Northern Breeds or not!

RESCUE SHOWCASE DURING THE
AMCA NATIONAL SPECIALTY SHOW
Each year the National Malamute Rescue Organization, AMAL, is invited to the Alaskan Malamute Club of America’s National Specialty show to highlight rescued Malamutes. This year, for the first time in 10 years, the show will be held in our region! The event will be in Albany, Oregon at the Linn County Expo Center. The welcome reception is Friday, 10/27, and the Showcase is 10/28.

As the regional affiliate, WAMAL has been asked to invite adopters and their pups to the Rescue Showcase during the AMCA National Specialty Show. The event is meant to honor adopters and their dogs by welcoming adopters to the show, complete with introductory reception the day before and then, during the showcase event the next day, having each dog's rescue story read as the owner and dog parade around the ring.

If your dog is a good Malamute breed representative (sorry, no blue eyes), able to walk 6 ft. from neighboring dogs in a show ring, chill when passing other dogs in a hallway and not a continuous barker, we’d love to have you join in! This is an opportunity to show off your rescue Malamute while sharing his/her rescue story!!

For more information, please email kelcy@wamal.com or heidi@wamal.com.

WILLING SKILLED AND UNSKILLED 'ARTISTS' NEEDED FOR POORLY DRAWN PETS FUNDRAISER!
Do you have a talent for drawing poorly? Or maybe you're an artistic prodigy? Well, guess what? We need BOTH types of ‘artists’ for an upcoming fundraiser--WAMAL's Poorly Drawn Pets will launch July 15-17!! This event was a blast last year and got rave reviews from participants with lots of requests to bring it back.

Want to be part of our creative team? Here's the scoop: People submit a photo of their beloved pet(s) and a small donation and then it's up to you to channel your inner artist, whether it's with a pencil, paints, or even digitally. We'll text or email you the photo, and it's showtime! Create your masterpiece and send it back our way – whether you scan it, snap a pic, or use carrier pigeons (just kidding, no pigeons required). You keep the original so there’s no mailing or delivery involved. We'll handle all the boring coordination with the donors; you just focus on unleashing your creative genius! We’re not looking for perfection here, just a fanciful interpretation of their pup, cat, fish…whatever they call a pet!!

We know you're busy, so don't worry about a massive time commitment. This fundraiser lasts only 3 days so it won't eat up too much of your schedule and you don’t need to be available for the entire time. We’ll handle all the coordination with the donors, so you just need to let your creativity flow!

If you're as excited as we are about this creative extravaganza, send an email to MalHappyTails@gmail.com. I’ll be happy to add you to the artist team and reply with more info!!

Thank you in advance for joining us on this wild artistic adventure! Let's make some magic happen for our pups and our supporters!
LOOT 4 MOOTS AUCTION ITEMS NEEDED!
Hey there, fellow Malamute lovers! How's it wagging? Get ready, 'cause the 5th Annual Loot 4 Moots online auction is right around the corner, and we need your help to make it pawsome! So, if you've got any Malamute, Husky, or Wolf-themed items, or anything that screams "let's embark on an outdoor adventure," we'd be over the moon if you could gather them up and send them our way!

Oh, and if you happen to stumble upon some cool goodies while shopping for your own gear, keep an eye out for those extra special items that would be a perfect fit for our auction pile. It's like finding buried treasure for a good cause!

We're also on the lookout for generous businesses who want to join the fun by donating an item, service, or even an unforgettable experience. If you have connections or happen to work for a business that fits the bill, please reach out.

Let's make this the most paw-some auction yet and show our rescue pups some serious love! They deserve it, and together we can make a difference. Woof-tastic! Thank you in advance for your amazing support, you rock-star dog lovers! Woofs and wags all around!

Email Rickie Anderson at MalHappyTails@gmail.com to arrange for delivery of your items or if you have any questions.
WAMAL AMBASSADOG TEAM MEMBERS OUT AND ABOUT!!
On Friday, June 9th, a gaggle of floofs, aka WAMAL’s Ambassadogs, attended the UW Tacoma Commencement Ceremonies at the Tacoma Dome. We were invited to serve as 'cousin representatives' for the official University of Washington mascot 'Dubs' and to provide fun and photo ops for the new graduates and their families and friends. It was a super fun time and the pups loved being the center of tons of attention. They even got to ride on the Tacoma Light Rail and dine al fresco after the festivities!
Looks like WAMAL will be invited back for future campus happenings so if you have a Mal (or mal-mix or husky) who loves attention and is good with people and are interested in joining in the fun, please email MalHappyTails@gmail.com to be added to the UW Tacoma Pack!!
But wait, there’s more! Our amazing WAMAL volunteers and Ambassadogs have been out and about, spreading joy from Marysville to Tacoma and beyond. They've been working their tails off, and now we're on the lookout for even more fabulous members to join our events team! If you've got a passion for lending a paw and want to help at our booth, we want you on our squad! Whether it's rocking the crowd or showing off your pup's talent for handling attention like a pro, we'd be thrilled to have you as part of our events pack! We need both booth volunteers and Ambassadog teams.

So, if you're ready to dive into the fun and make tails wag all around, don't hesitate to reach out. Together, we'll create memories and spread the WAMAL spirit far and wide! Get in touch with Rickie at MalHappyTails@gmail.com and become an honorary member of the events dream team!
SOCIAL MEDIA HELP
Help, help, help!!! With so many events and fundraisers on our calendar I need assistance keeping up with social media posting, both on Instagram and Facebook! Do you have 1-2 hours a week to help write and/or prep graphics? Creative writing ability is helpful (or familiarity with ‘helpers’ like ChatGPT) and experience with any graphic creating app (Canva, Photoshop and the like) would be awesome! Not looking for someone with all these qualities but more likely 2 people who could work together—one writer and one graphic designer. Please reach out ASAP to MalHappyTails@gmail.com

ADOPTABLE DOG SHOWCASE
Hello there - my name is Keanu! I'm just a young pup - only about 3 years old - but recently I have unfortunately lost my eyesight. The good people at WAMAL are having me treated by a specialist. The bad news is it seems there is little hope of restoring my vision, and I'll need enucleation surgery to spare me from future pain. The good news is I'm learning to adapt well, and WAMAL is going to get me the operation I need!

Anyway, with all this happening I have a couple of very special requests:

Firstly, I am looking for a kind and loving person who will eventually be my new furever "Seeing Eye Human". If you've never been a seeing eye human before, don't worry. WAMAL can help hook you up with resources to learn how to work with a blind dog. It's actually not as difficult as you might think - especially since all our other senses are so acute!

And speaking of cute - that word describes me perfectly! I'm told I'm kind of a "unicorn mal" too. I'm good with humans, good with other dogs, and - get this - I'm even friendly to CATS! I could be your whole family's new best friend, so please apply to adopt me today!

My second request: even if you don't think you could adopt me, would you be willing to help WAMAL to offset the costs of my upcoming surgery? Please consider sponsoring me - your one time or recurring donation will be used exclusively towards my care. Thank woooo!
Hey everyone - My name is Dakota and I have a problem I'm hoping you can help me with. You see, I'm about to lose my home at the end of this month through no fault of my own. While the nice folks at WAMAL have a kennel on hold for me, as a senior dog I'd really prefer to have a nice soft spot to land in a home instead! Would you consider fostering or adopting me to make that happen?

As I mentioned, I'm a senior at 12 years old - but the nice WAMAL evaluator who met me found that fact to be surprising! She observed that I had the energy, playfulness, and movement of a much younger dog. And also the strength of a younger dog - I admit I may have pulled her on the leash a time or two! But that is just because I need a little more walkie time than I've been getting lately. If you will take me on some nice long sniffy walks or hikes to burn off my extra energy I'll settle down and walk a lot more nicely, I promise!

I'm good inside the home and I know some basic commands. I am very friendly and affectionate to people. I hope you like giving pets and belly rubs, because I love getting them!

Having been an only dog, I can be a wee bit picky about my canine friends, especially when they are big dogs like me. So if you have other dogs at home, slow introductions and savvy management will be important.

Whaddya think - can I crash with you for a while, or even for furever? If so please apply to foster or adopt me!
