First Tee at the Texas Children's Houston Open
First Tee – Greater Houston was proud to be part of the Texas Children’s Houston Open, giving our participants and staff incredible opportunities to experience professional golf up close. A group of FTGH participants who were nominated by their coaches for exemplifying First Tee's core values and key commitments, took part in the Coterra Energy Clinic! This event was highlighted by a special appearance from Rickie Fowler, who provided chipping instruction and signed a few golf balls as well.
FTGH staff also participated in Chevron’s Whole in One Clinic, leading the golf station among an impressive lineup that included a nutrition station with Houston Astros Chef Jimmy Gregory, a golf pro panel featuring the University of Houston Women’s Golf Team and FTGH Program Director Maya Freeman, a health and fitness station, and PGA TOUR pros Trey Mullinax and Houston native Cole Hammer. To cap off an exciting week, select FTGH participants served as Official Junior Press, interviewing PGA pros Ben Griffin and Aaron Rai as well as Astros owner, Jim Crane.
Experiences like these connect our mission to the highest level of the game and continue to inspire our First Tee – Greater Houston players on and off the course.

| | Donor Fundraising Spotlight: Pat Booker | | |
Pat Booker has strengthened fundraising efforts and advanced First Tee – Greater Houston’s long-term vision through her five years of service as Philanthropy Chair on the HGA Board of Directors. She organized the inaugural Core Values Luncheon at River Oaks Country Club—an event she and her husband, Mike, have supported for all eight years—and has become the most successful volunteer fundraiser for our organization.
“Our family foundation has personally invested in this campaign, and as Philanthropy Chair, I’ve helped raise an additional $1.6 million toward our goal. I have seen, firsthand, the life-changing benefits the First Tee has provided our kids and believe deeply in the educational impact the First Tee has had on them” Pat shared.
As longtime supporters and national trustees, the Bookers understand the importance of investing in spaces and programs that build character and confidence in young people. Thank you to Pat Booker and the Booker Family Foundation for their leadership and generosity. "The First Tee Alumni Network has given me meaningful opportunities to keep growing long after my time as a participant. Through the network, I’ve built strong connections with alumni, mentors, and leaders across the country who share a passion for First Tee’s mission.
Attending Alumni Network Summits and being selected as a chaperone for national opportunity events allowed me to grow as a leader, strengthen my communication skills, and give back by supporting current participants. Staying connected through the Alumni Network has helped shape both my personal and professional journey - and keeps me actively engaged in the First Tee community."
~Mariana Montemayor, First Tee Alumna & FTGH Staff Member
