New Scholars Program for Current College Students or Trainees
The National Human Genome Research Institute's Inter-Society Coordinating Committee for Practitioner Education in Genomics (ISCC-PEG) is a collaborative group aimed at improving healthcare provider genomics education. The ISCC-PEG Scholars Program is a new opportunity that provides exposure to the broader genomics education community and experts in the field. The applicant must be a current college student or trainee willing to work on genomic education projects under the mentorship of a current ISCC-PEG member. The scholar appointment is for two years and each scholar will have their travel funded for the annual ISCC-PEG in-person meeting (typically January or February) for a presentation on their project progress. Eligible applicants can apply until September 1, 2020.

DNA Decoded is a free resource created by the Illumina Foundation and Discovery Education that is designed to equip educators (grades 6-12) with digital tools to inspire students to learn more about genomics, and how they can use this knowledge to change the world. Tools include NGSS aligned lesson plans and activities. A great way to inspire our next generation of scientists in the classroom!
National Institutes of Health 2020 Virtual Summer Enrichment Program
Free for High School Students and Beyond
The 2020 NIH Virtual Summer Enrichment Program is a new program designed for high school-aged learners and above who are focusing on preparation for next steps on career paths. The curriculum features special workshops and lectures presented by the NIH Institutes and Centers to highlight the research they carry out and STEM opportunities in their disciplines. The program is free but registration is required.
