For centuries African Americans have re-imagined the futures and possibilities of black people across the globe through the dynamic lens of Afrofuturism. Coined in 1993, Afrofuturism envisions the future of Black life, liberated from societal oppression and earthly-bound constraints. This event is open to students and families providing an opportunity for you to envision the future while peering through the lenses of space exploration, human health, and technology. Hear from speakers, join a book reading/signing, draw your own superhero and more! This event is on Oct. 14 from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. at NMAAHC, Washington D.C., and registration is required.
