YSK: Camp is really good for your child

Sign up today!

Nervous camper? We got you. It's totally natural! After all, it's a new place, they may not have any friends yet, and they will be away from their parents or caregivers. It's a lot.

But you should know that our staff is trained for exactly this situation. They're pros at making kids feel comfortable and connecting campers together. Although it is common to have nervous campers arrive, it is rare to have anyone go home early. And you know what? It feels good to try something scary and succeed.

Or maybe the parent is nervous? Also super common. After all, this is your kiddo, they have diabetes, and that's a complicated thing to manage. Plus you'll miss them!

Again, we got you. Our medical team is led by diabetes doctors and nurses. In fact, it's likely the doctors and nurses that taught you to manage your child's diabetes are involved in Gales Creek Camp and may actually be at camp when you're there! Who's better at diabetes than them? (OK maybe you, but they're a close second, right? 😉)

As for the part where you'll miss them: We can't be a big help there, but you can rest assured that your time apart is extremely valuable, for you (get some rest!) and for them (they learn they can do stuff without you, which will come in handy later).
