This decade is a milestone for MICA as we celebrate 200 years in 2026. We are excited about what the future of MICA holds – it is bright! As we share some of our achievements over the coming months, I am sure you will find them as informative, inspiring, and rewarding as we do.

MICA has over 20,000 alumni around the world and now is your chance to join or create a MICA Network in your city! M
ICA alumni have already formed Regional Networks in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Seoul (Korea), with plans to launch new networks this year in Baltimore, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, Shanghai, and Beijing.
Our aim is to build MICA Communities across the world, so if you are an alumnus, parent, student, former parent or friend, you are more than welcome to join us!

On behalf of the Parents Council, thank you for staying in touch!
My son, Rafael Rodriguez-Sanchez, is a Junior (2021) in the Fiber Development department at MICA. Over the last 3 years I have had the privilege to see MICA’s caring and holistic approach toward the development of engaged artists that want to become citizens of the world. Serving on the Parents Council is a small way to pay back the investment the MICA community is making on my son’s growth and development. From the very beginning it was noticeable that MICA truly welcomes parents’ engagement.

MICA to launch Ratcliffe Center for Creative Entrepreneurship
|
The $5 million gift from The Philip E. and Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation will support the development, launch and ramp-up of the Ratcliffe Center over six years. The center, infusing creative entrepreneurship training into art and design education, further advances the College’s forward-looking mission.

MICA is pleased to announce the founding of the William O. Steinmetz ’50 and Betty Cooke ’46 Chair in Design. Established through a generous commitment by Betty Cooke in October 2019 in memory of Steinmetz, it is the third endowed chair at the College and the first among MICA’s design education programs.

Pop Up and Pitch exhibit

The Up/Start Venture Competition, an initiative of
MICApreneurship
, focuses on incubating and building creative business ventures within the MICA community. Working with industry partners, UP/Start provides mentorship and capital to help nurture ideas into sustainable businesses. This year's competition is open to MICA Classes of 2019 (alumni) and 2020 (undergraduate seniors and second year MFA students).

Self Employment in the Arts: Pitch Competition

This competition is open to all students who are enrolled in at least one course at the undergraduate or graduate level during the 2019-2020 academic year, and is geared towards creatives in the visual, performing, literary, and media arts.
