Cheryl D. Miller ’74 (Graphic Design & Illustration BFA) was awarded the AIGA Medal, one of the highest distinctions in the field. She is recognized for her outsized influence within the profession to end the marginalization of BIPOC designers through her civil rights activism, and archival vision. See more

Paying Homage to North Adams History

World renowned artist and muralist Andrew Pisacane ’11 (Interdisciplinary Sculpture BFA), also known as Gaia, brought the city much joy and respect by creating a large mural of Lue Gim Gong on the North Adams Housing Authority complex in Massachusetts. Joanna Barnum Watercolor
Joanna Barnum '06 (Illustration BFA)

Joanna paints emotional portraits and eerie landscapes in watercolor for both publications and collectors. She offers original dark fantasy watercolors, limited edition prints, books, and accessories featuring her work. Joanna is a National Watercolor Society Signature Artist and her work has been exhibited at NASA Goddard and is in the permanent collection of Ten Percent Happier. Check out her shop

In Memory & Tribute

Betsey Heuisler ’71 (Art Education MFA), P '08, artist, teacher, and longtime friend of MICA, died of cancer June 15, 2020. One year later, family and friends came together to celebrate her life. Donations in Betsey's memory will fund a scholarship at MICA. Read more
