Amy Sherald ’04 (Hoffberger School of Painting MFA) will share the stage with Steven Spielberg at this year’s LACMA’s Art+Film Gala. Amy will be recognized for her portrait of Michelle Obama, which will be on view this fall as part The Obama Portraits Tour. Read more

Rachel DuVall ’08 (Fiber BFA) stumbled into the craft of weaving while at MICA. Now, 15 years later, she rents a studio in L.A. and weaves full time, “honing her artistic voice in step with her growing business.” Read more

Betty Cooke ’46 (Art Education BFA), one of the most prolific and inventive jewelers in the country. The Walters Art Museum will present the first major museum retrospective of her work, beginning in the 1940s and continuing into the 21st century. Read more
