First Lady Yumi Hogan ‘08 (BFA, Painting) Helps to Secure 500,000 COVID-19 Tests for Maryland
The tests that arrived at Baltimore-Washington International Airport from South Korea will help to dramatically expand Maryland’s ability to identify patients sickened from the virus.
Alumni Produce Face Shields for Medics in NYC
Val Karuskevich ’14 (BFA, Photography), Amanda Metcalf '15 (BFA, Interdisciplinary Sculpture) and Harrison Tyler '14 (BFA, Interdisciplinary Sculpture), plan to produce 8000 face-shields to donate to medical personnel in New York City. Read more and support their project!
Creatives From MICA Join Others to Fight COVID-19

Ryan Hoover , who works in the digital fabrication studio as a faculty member at the Maryland Institute College of Art is one of hundreds of people working in tandem with a Baltimore maker space, Open Works , to manufacture face shields via 3D printers.   Read more
Developing 3D-Printed Devices for Ventilators

At Johns Hopkins University, a team of nearly 30 people — including MICA alum and faculty member Jenna Frye '05 (MFA, Rhinehart School of Sculpture) — have come together to create a splitter device that could allow a single ventilator to treat multiple patients. The device is designed to be 3D printed. Read more
2020 Commencement Canceled

We regret to inform you that the traditional May 2020 in-person celebrations of Commencement, ArtWalk, and remaining Grad Exhibitions are canceled. MICA UP/Start Awards $100,000 in Seed Funding

MICA is proud to announce this year’s UP/Start Venture Competition winners — Makers for Humankind by  Mikea Hugley ’19 (BFA, Graphic Design), which took home $29,750, and Small Island Clothing by Sara Stanton ’19 (MPS, Business of Art & Design), which took home $29,000. Read more

MICA GRAD SHOW 2020 showcases the culminating work of more than 150 of MICA's graduate students from the College's internationally renowned programs. This semester, MICA will showcase this groundbreaking work over the coming months in a new way: through online documentation.

Carlos Vigil ‘07 (BFA, Graphic Design)

Back in 2008 Carlos designed his first t-shirt. He continued selling his shirts out of his backpack until eventually he got busted for selling where he wasn't permitted, but his enthusiasm and his customers' demand for more kept him going. Over a decade and 40+ designs later he's still at it! Check it out
