Juan Logan ’98 (Mount Royal School of Art MFA) carved his first piece of art in 1960. His work has taken him all over the world, and now can be seen in the collections of several world-class institutions and museums. Read more

World renowned artist Amy Sherald ’04 (Hoffberger School of Painting MFA) commissioned a portrait of Breonna Taylor for Vanity Fair. She calls this portrait a contribution to the “moment and to activism—producing this image keeps Breonna alive forever.” Read more

The Almost Forgotten Technique

Kibibi Ajanku ’16 (Curatorial Practice MFA) fell in love with traditional indigo dyeing in The Gambia in West Africa. Though much of the traditional technique has been lost due to modern demands, Kibibi aims to pass on the techniques to others in America so that those traditions are not forgotten. Read more

Tedra Wilson ’06 “TT The Artist’s” (General Fine Arts BFA) film Dark City: Beneath the Beat has made its way internationally, now screening at the Melbourne International Film Festival.The film portrays Baltimore’s vibrant culture through music, dance, fashion and performance. Read more

Ashley Lloyd ’09 (Fiber BFA)

After graduating from MICA, Ashley launched her own line of avant-garde wearable sculptures as a milliner using natural elements for the high fashion industry. Her pieces have been featured in Vanity Fair, W, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vogue, and donned by icons including Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Kate Moss.
