Dear Hollywood Beach and Silver Strand residents,
Thank you again to everyone who attended the Silver Strand and Hollywood Beach Community Meeting in July. I wanted to share a few updates and share about upcoming community meetings.
The neighborhood survey showed great interest in additional improvements, in-person community meetings, and highlighted top issues of concern for the neighborhoods. While some of these improvements will take time to work through jurisdictional and funding considerations, I invite you to join me to dig deeper into the issues we heard the most about. My office is planning for focused community meetings with tentative dates below:
Wed Sept 23, 2026 | 5:00 – 6:30 PM | Channel Islands Boating Center
Short Term Rentals: Enforcement Discussion
Thur October 15, 2026 | 5:00 - 6:30 PM | Location to be announced
Infrastructure Improvements: Street Sweeping, Drainage & SCE Power
November 2026
Neighborhood Safety: Loitering, Parking Lots, and Fireworks
Early 2027
Beach Maintenance: Planning for Beach Maintenance
Traffic Calming & Pedestrian Safety Improvements
Questions for Agencies
My office collected nearly 90 questions during and after the Community Meeting from the question cards. County staff and I are working to look into each of the questions in and will follow up directly with those who submitted questions. I appreciate your patience as we work to respond to everyone.
Appreciation
A huge thank you to the residents who advocated diligently to slow traffic on Harbor Blvd.; your efforts resulted in last month’s installation of speed humps. I also want to thank the City of Oxnard and County of Ventura staff who worked through complicated jurisdiction issues to make the installation possible. I look forward to many more instances of this kind of collaboration to make future improvements possible.
Stay in Touch
In case you missed it, presentation slides from the Community Meeting were posted on my website. I will keep sending these emails if you signed up for Coastal Communities Communications or attended a community meeting, but if you would like to opt out, please let me know.
I look forward to hearing from you at our upcoming meetings and via email at Supervisor.Lopez@venturacounty.gov.
Thank you again for your participation and commitment to our community.
Warmly,
Vianey Lopez
