UpTech Company Spotlight: OMP
Bill Cunningham with summer interns Amber Hawks,
Erik Johnson, and Max Snyder .

This week, UpTech celebrated our one-year anniversary of having our first eight companies move into our shared home as they started the program. Now more than a year later, we couldn't be prouder of all of their successes, but we wanted to highlight some encouraging news from the team at OneMorePallet.

Just a few days ago, Bill and the team shipped their 50th pallet. With an increased focus on inbound marketing over the last few months, they have talked with more than 1,000 customers through Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, their blog, and a robust sales call program. As the company increases its revenue literally every week, OneMorePallet has added a team of three summer interns to continue building their customer base and increase exposure. Amber, Erik, and Max (above) are the newest addition to the team, and UpTech is glad to welcome them to our home this summer. Keep up the great work, OMP!

Event: Introduction to SBIR/STTR
Grants in Kentucky
Friday, June 14th

The SBIR program was established with the passing of the Small Business Innovation Development Act in 1982 to award federal research grants to small businesses. The program had three main objectives:

  • to spur technological innovation in the small business sector
  • to meet the research and development needs of the federal government
  • to commercialize federally funded investments

The SBIR program was created to support scientific excellence and technological innovation through the investment of federal research funds in critical American priorities to build a strong national economy ... one business at a time.

SBIR/STTR grants are non-dilutive, early stage funds from the federal government that are available to all small businesses in every sector.  In addition, Kentucky has a competitive SBIR/STTR matching program.  These awards provide credibility and validate your project for many other early funding opportunities.

SBIR/STTR grants are available from a variety of federal agencies covering multiple disciplines. However, due to ever-changing demands and rising competition, applicants with better understanding of the process and requirements stand a better chance to receive these funds.

The seminar includes program experts and actual applicants that will tell their "hands-on" experience with SBIR/STTR.  Time has been reserved for private one-on-one sessions at the end of the program.
