Course description:
New York State has set a goal of 0% carbon emissions by 2050. This will require a complete rethinking of the way buildings are designed, conditioned, and powered. This course will discuss the current efficiency codes along with changes that are coming up and will explore practical approaches to meeting those targets. Additionally, we will review the problems caused by these changes and how to mediate them for sustainable yet livable building.
Learning Objectives:
· Participants will be familiar with the new NYS Climate Act.
· Participants will gain an understanding of the pros and cons of electrification.
· Participants will be familiar with the changes to the 2025 Energy Code
· Participants will gain an understanding of energy trade-offs with ERI path compliance
· Participants will be able to determine best practice for mitigating the potential problems associated with high performance homes.
