Main Street Gloucester Block Party

Friday, Sept. 2 | 6 - 10 PM


We have had two fantastic Block Parties so far this summer - help us make it three!


Join us for the last block party of the year on Friday, September 2. Once again Kilted Colin will be showing you what is under his kilt, and this time, Bosoma School of Dance will have the spotlight dance session. There will be music, face painting, Mary Poppins and Captain Jack. Visit with your favorite non-profits, shop the Main Street merchants, play games, and satisfy your hunger at the five food vendors. Come down to Main Street and help us make this one of the most successful block parties!

Honoring Our History: Cannon Dedication Ceremony

Thursday, August 25 | 6 - 7 PM

Stacey Boulevard (between the Fisherman’s Wives Memorial and the Bocce Courts)


Join the Gloucester 400+ as they unveil the city’s newly restored Replica Cannon and reflect on the bravery of all those who fought for Gloucester and our freedom. This historical event will kick off our celebrations for Gloucester’s 400th year. Featuring presentations by State Senator Bruce Tarr and other featured guests, the community is invited to learn about the history of the replica cannon, the process of her restoration, and Gloucester’s deep connection with the USS Constitution

Gloucester Culture Splash Happenings

This week’s highlighted cultural organization in Harbortown is Maritime Gloucester! Located at 23 Harbor Loop, Maritime Gloucester is open until 7:00pm each Thursday. They are right next door to the Harbormaster dock where you can catch the water shuttle to travel between Harbortown and Rocky Neck.

This week’s highlighted cultural organization in Rocky Neck is North Shore Arts Association! Visit them at 11 Pirates Lane for a Watercolor Demo with Marion Hall at 6:00pm.

200th Brazilian Independence Day Celebration

Independence Day of Brazil, or Sete de Setembro, is officially celebrated on September 7 to mark Brazil’s Declaration of Independence from Portugal on September 7, 1822. This year, to celebrate the 200th anniversary, the Cape Ann Museum and Action Inc. are working with local Brazilian community members to share Brazilian food, culture, music, and dance in Downtown Gloucester.

History of Medieval Arms & Armor
