Get ready for Block Party # 2 in just 10 days. Once again, crowd favorite Cape Ann Dance will be performing. In addition, there will be a "Scottish flair" with both Kilted Colin and Stiles School of Scottish Dance performing. Food trucks include the Abbie D's, Crepe du Jour, Pie Sons Pizza and Nana's Fried Dough. The kids will also enjoy Face Painting by Miss Wendy, Captain Jack, Picasso's Balloonatik, YMCA Kids Town, Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team, and Corn Bowl from Cape Ann Lanes. It will be a great time for the whole family.

The historic Stage Fort Park along Gloucester Harbor will blossom into color, flavor and music for the 41st Annual Gloucester Waterfront Festival. Note: There is a fee to Park at beach parking.

This week’s highlighted cultural organization in Harbortown is Gloucester Meetinghouse Foundation. Meetinghouse is celebrating with tours of the 1806 Meetinghouse interior, explaining its evolution, importance to American history and origins as the home of the First Universalist Church in America. Additionally, they’ll host a concert by Rockport vocalist Satch Kerans with a small ensemble, singing original ballads and a concert/demonstration of the 1893 Hutchings/Fisk pipe organ by Cape Ann organist Andy Soll. Gloucester Meetinghouse Foundation will also offer a preview show of urban-landscape paintings by Pia Juhl Nadel from Lanesville and light refreshments for visitors! | | |
This week’s highlighted cultural organization in Rocky Neck is Ocean Alliance. This Thursday for Culture Splash, they will display an art installation titled “Once Upon a Whale Song,” which is an immersive art and sound installation by Northwest artist Perri Lynch Howard that reimagines the world’s oceans, not as the watery backdrop of our human lives, but as precious habitat for whales, in the medium through which they communicate— sound. This exhibition invites you to become a great listener.
