October 26 | Beginning at 2:30pm

Mount Saint Francis Chapel & St. Anthony Hall

Tickets: $20

Join us for a special afternoon of music, reflection, and Franciscan spirituality during the Season of Creation. Our annual Earth Care Sunday gathering invites you to make peace with Creation and the Creator through art, faith, and dialogue. This year marks the 800th anniversary of the Canticle of Brother Sun, written by St. Francis of Assisi. This hymn of creation inspired Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home and continues to call us to live in harmony with all of God’s creation.

World Music for Contemplation

Dick Sisto & Jeremy Allen with Aaron Boaz

2:30-3:30pm | Mount Saint Francis Chapel

Renowned jazz vibraphonist Richard Sisto, bassist Jeremy Allen, and violinist Aaron Boaz create a meditative soundscape that blends jazz with world rhythms and spiritual depth. Inspired by global jazz traditions and nature’s beauty, their contemplative music invites us into a spirit of connection, creativity, and reverence for all creation.

On Display Now: Clarity at 83 by Penny Sisto

September 25- November 5 | 11:00am - 2:00pm

Clarity at 83 is a reflection of the shift in how artist Penny Sisto views aging at 83 years old, stitched in fabric and memory. In her artist statement, she says, "these pieces come from dreams—those I had as a child, and those that visit me now. They come from the deep well of living, where wisdom doesn’t speak in words, but in color, texture, and breath. There is no longer the need to strive, to push, to grasp. There is only presence. In these years, I have found a clarity that eluded me in youth: the quiet beauty of simply being. Of seeing life, not through the lens of what’s next, but with the grace of what is.

This work is my offering. A way of saying that aging is not the end of the light, but its gentlest hue. It is not something to fear—it is something to embrace. A soft unfolding into peace. A final blooming."

Sisto is an internationally recognized artist who has exhibited throughout the United States and abroad.

First Annual Raku Celebration

November 8 | 10:00am - 5:00pm

Unlike traditional kiln firing, Raku pottery is removed from the kiln while still glowing hot and placed into sawdust, paper, or other combustibles. The rapid cooling creates dramatic crackles, metallic flashes, and smoky textures—making each piece completely unique. Whether you are an experienced ceramicist or simply curious to try something new, this event promises a hands-on artistic adventure you will not forget.
Class is limited to 12 participants.

Docent Program

Docents are an important resource for the Franciscan Arts Initiative at Mount St. Francis. As a ministry of a non-profit organization, the Franciscan Arts Initiative relies on a dedicated group of volunteers to lead tours, help with operations, and run our many diverse programs and events. All volunteers must go through a volunteer orientation which includes training on youth interaction and protection. Additional training may be required for specific volunteer assignments. Active volunteers are asked to record a minimum of 6 hours of work per month, throughout the year with a two-year commitment.
