As May is wrapping up, we look forward to all the opportunities that June brings! As always, we strive to serve as Champaign-Urbana's community grocery store, and in doing so, we seek out chances to get involved in all that C-U has to offer. You can find us out and about in the next few weeks, and equally important, you can find several community groups in the co-op as well.
Saturday, May 25th is Urbana's very first Downtown Get Down, and we'll be there! Stop by the festival on Main St between 5-8pm and chat with us about upcoming events, ownership, plus score one of our fresh, co-op made cookies. Bring the kiddos by for a fun Superhero Veggie craft, too!
We'll also be setting up a booth at the iHotel for the Working Women's Expo. We're hoping to educate the public about local food, the co-operative movement, and offer some tasty samples. This is a FREE event, so check it out!
Aside from the co-op going out into the community, we have countless opportunities to work with organizations right here in the store. In June, we'll host a week-long cooking camp organized by Douglass Community Center where elementary-aged kids will "Cook Around The World," visiting a new country each day and preparing a different cultural cuisine. We'll also welcome clients from the Developmental Service Center for a heart-healthy cooking class, introducing them to delicious foods. To align with our End of serving as an educational resource on food issues, students from Next Generation School will visit to learn about organic farming.
The list never ends! And we'll be doing even more in the coming months. If you're a part of a community group or organization, you too can schedule a private cooking class or workshop of your choice! Feel free to reach out for more information via the e-mail address below!
