New I-9 Form for Employers

Last week, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced a new version of Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. Employers should begin using the new form on August 1st, 2023. After October 31st, 2023, employers will be subject to penalties if they use the old form.

In addition, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is now allowing employers to implement remote document examination. DHS noted that only employers who use E-Verify and are in good standing will be allowed to continue electronic verifications after August 1st, 2023.

The I-9 must be completed within three days of a new employee’s hire. Employers that do not complete and retain I-9 forms may face civil money or criminal penalties.

The Staten Island Foundation is currently hiring for Office Manager/Bookkeeper position.

The Foundation is looking for an experienced office manager who will enjoy a flexible, part-time schedule. We are – of course – a delightful organization to work for. We need someone steady and reliable to keep the office operating smoothly while other team members focus on the programmatic work. We don’t need someone with foundation or even nonprofit experience but it would be nice to find someone who is interested in our work.

The Staten Island Community Partnership is currently looking for a dedicated Administrative Assistant/Community Ambassador to join their team.

The role of the Administrative Assistant/Community Ambassador is someone who has passion for the community and is willing to engage with community members and other organizations. All applicants must be able to pass a background check and a physical exam.
