2025 Carlos Moseley Series: Danish String Quartet

Tonight- April 7 at 7:30pm - 10:30pm

The Danish String Quartet got its start as pre-teens at a summer music camp in rural Denmark, “hanging out and playing football and chamber music.” Now thirty years later they stand at the pinnacle of the chamber music world, “ensemble music at its purest,” according to the New York Times, which also says, “…some of the most essential listening of the past decade. No recording could quite capture what makes the Danish so special in concert, could make indelible the fleeting aura of rapt, intense concentration that settles in a hall when they are at their best.”

Meg Hanna-Tominaga’s fresh adaptation of Franz Kafka’s classic novella reframes the life of Gregor Samsa from his internal torment to the external forces that contribute to his suffering. Staged in the Department of Theatre & Dance’s intimate Laird Theater, this powerful production examines the devastating effects of dysfunctional interpersonal relationships and how being treated inhumanely can cause one to feel less than human.

The subject matter is not recommended for young audiences; Laird Theater is not wheelchair accessible.

Fine Arts Day Camp at Lawson Academy

Now - August

The Lawson Academy Fine Arts Day Camp (FADC) features traditional games, food, and fun in an exciting, creative atmosphere. We provide all-day, well-supervised care in an artistic alternative to traditional daycare.

Children attend daily classes in art, music, creative writing, dance, acting, and theatre skills. Lessons and activities in each session revolve around a theme, so campers who attend all sessions will experience something new each session, while those who attend only one session will still receive a rich experience that can stand alone. Each of our summer sessions culminates with a Family Day Program in which our students showcase what they have learned and prepared.
