Exhibition: Spartanburg Community College Faculty Exhibition

Converse University is proud to present a showcase of artwork from the Spartanburg Community College faculty. The exhibition will include such diverse media as printmaking, photography, sculpture, painting, drawing and ceramics. The faculty comprises of individuals with backgrounds in studio art and art education producing an exhibition that reflects a broad range of creative expression.

Zimmerli Series 2023 - New World Symphony - Dvorak

Your Spartanburg Philharmonic opens its monumental 95th Season with the brave and bold New World Symphony under the baton of our new Music Director, John Concklin. Dvorák’s Symphony no. 9, opus 95, is filled with dancing Czech rhythms and familiar American folk melodies. Immerse yourself in the powerful, lush harmonies and rich orchestration. A truly audacious, iconic piece to begin a new era of music in Spartanburg.

Carlos Moseley Series: Sharon Isbin, guitar and Jessica Rivera, soprano

Acclaimed for her extraordinary lyricism, technique and versatility, multiple GRAMMY Award winner Sharon Isbin was named the 2020 Musical America Worldwide Instrumentalist of the Year, the first guitarist ever to receive the honor. Isbin has appeared as soloist with over 200 orchestras and has given sold-out performances in many of the world’s finest halls including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, London’s Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Paris’ Châtelet, Argentina’s Teatro Colón, and Madrid’s Teatro Real.

Gallery Talk & Reception: Adrian Rhodes

On September 28th at 6:00pm, Adrian Rhodes will present a Gallery Talk discussing And the Grass Still Grows and her art process. The talk will be followed by a reception from 6:30-8:00 pm.
And the Grass Still Grows exhibition will run in the Milliken Art Gallery from September 28 – October 26, 2023.
The exhibition is located in the Milliken Art Gallery and is free of charge. Gallery hours are Sunday 2:00-5:00pm, Monday – Friday 9:00am-5:00pm. The Gallery is closed during school holidays.

Theatre Converse: Alice's Wonderland

Dare to step into the unexpected for the Converse Theatre & Dance senior class Capstone creation of ALICE’S WONDERLAND, a piece dedicated to the themes of community and individuality, and finding out where you ‘belong’.
Featuring a collage of materials sourced from the Lewis Carroll novel, several movies, a ballet, and a play script, this Capstone project is almost entirely directed, written, designed, built and performed by Theatre and Musical Theatre majors from the class of 2024. Welcome to our Wonderland! Free admission.
