2023 Converse Emerging Young Artists Juried Exhibition & Reception

March 13 - March 25 - FREE
The Converse Emerging Young Artists Exhibition provides a venue to recognize exemplary art works of high school students, to help them begin to prepare for a major in art while still in grades 9-12. This opportunity also introduces them to the Converse University Department of Art and Design and the variety of majors offered to students at Converse.
Accepted submissions will be exhibited in Milliken Art Gallery beginning Monday, March 13 through Saturday, March 25, 2023 during gallery hours.

Converse Symphony Orchestra: World Dreams

The Petrie School of Music presents “World Dreams,” a concert by the Converse Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with a select group of Spartanburg County high school students. The program includes works that celebrate the vision of a world where peace is possible. Featuring Hisaishi’s Ghibli film music, selections from Holst’s “The Planets,” and vocal soloist Emma Brooke Alley, this concert is sure to have something for everyone!

Converse Wind Ensemble: Aurora Awakes

The Petrie School of Music presents “Aurora Awakes,” a concert by the Converse Wind Ensemble, directed by Dr. Arthur Haecker. Featuring guest conductor Dr. Susana Lalama, the program features works by Louis Ganne, Malcolm Arnold, Guy Woolfenden, Anthony Iannaccone, and “Aurora Awakes” by John Mackey. MoseleyNext: The Fourth Wall

The Fourth Wall inspires and delights audiences all over the country with their hybrid arts performances in venues ranging from elementary school cafegymnatoriums to performing arts centers to (Le) Poisson Rouge in New York. A favorite at Fringe theatre festivals, the trio has sold out shows in Indianapolis, Minneapolis, and Orlando where they received Patrons’ Pick and Critics’ Choice awards for their vaudeville-inspired show, “Fruit Flies Like a Banana.” The Fourth Wall won the 2014 Savvy Musician in Action chamber music competition and was presented at the innovative music entrepreneurship retreat as performers and workshop leaders.

Spartanburg Philharmonic: Tao of Purity & Power
