The Spartanburg Master Chorale, Converse University’s choral union of upperclassmen, graduate students, and Spartanburg community members, will present its fall concert on Thursday, November 9th at 7:30 pm in Daniel Recital Hall. The concert features some of the brightest luminaries in the field of choral composition today. The concert is free and open to the public.

Converse Chorale: Come Travel With Me: A Diverse Program of Music for Women's Voices

Converse Chorale, Converse University’s premiere women’s chorus, will present its fall concert on Friday, November 10 at 7:30 pm in Daniel Recital Hall. The concert will open with Scott Farthing’s Come Travel With Me, inspired by Walt Whitman’s “Song of the Open Road.” The following set of four pieces by contemporary composers explore themes of sisterhood, aspirational growth, and an appreciation of the beautiful things life has to offer. Carlos Moseley Series: Petrie at the Piedmont

The Carlos Moseley Chamber Music Series and The Petrie School of Music will present an evening of exceptional performances and delectable hors d’oeuvres at Spartanburg’s Piedmont Club. Enjoy a banquet created by Executive Chef Carlin Morrison and her team of chefs with a program of light classics, favorites, and salon showpieces performed by members of the Petrie School faculty and students.

Theatre Converse: Watch Your Step

A dynamic mixed repertory of jazz, ballet and contemporary works, Watch Your Step ushers in a brand new season of dance at Converse! Showcasing Dance & Theatre students as well as students from across the University, the concert features three short dance works and a movement piece celebrating the beauty of the ocean and examining the precarious future of coral reefs. We invite you to come experience the creativity and skill of our student dancers at Converse University!

Converse University Art History Lecture Series: Sarah Archino

Sarah Archino, Associate Professor of Art History at Furman University will speak on November 16, 2023. at 6:30 pm in Lever Auditorium, Kuhn Hall. Her topic is: “When playing by the rules invents a new game: Marcel Duchamp, Stephen Colbert, and fake news.”

Festival of Lessons and Carols 2023

November 30 at 7:30 pm - FREE
Converse University and our broader Spartanburg community will enjoy a beautiful holiday tradition with the annual Festival of Lessons & Carols, held in Twichell Auditorium on November 30th. The prelude will begin at 7:30 pm and the official program will begin at 8:00 pm. As always, this event is free and open to the public.

Lessons and Carols has become a tradition at Converse,and is a service of worship involving all segments of the local community. The festival is a customary worship that celebrates the Christmas season. Traditional Christmas carols and hymns, along with student-led scripture readings will be presented as a part of the program.

In addition to the two Christmas trees on Twichell stage, luminaries will line the front campus for the evening’s glow.
Funds collected from the sale of luminaries will go toward our Student Benevolence Fund. Luminaries can be purchased HERE. Luminary submissions received by Friday, November 10, 2023, will be recognized during The Festival of Lessons and Carols program.
