A Letter from the Director...

I am sure you would agree with me when I say that the Nazareth Library is beautiful. The exterior radiates historical charm and the interior is warm and welcoming. A large part of my role as Director is to ensure this community gem is well cared for and preserved.

As you visit the library over the next few months, you will notice a couple building projects underway. First, painting will begin on the front exterior porches and the library's original front entrance. Funding for this project is possible through a matching grant by the Nazareth Economic Development Committee. Second, there will be repairs made to the library's slate roof. Currently there are broken slates, small holes, and damaged snow catchers. It is important that these repairs are complete before the winter months set in to prevent additional damage. Funding for this project is made possible by the proceeds of the Library's November Lottery Calendar sales.

Melody Beattie once said, "Gratitude turns what you have into enough and more." Beattie's words resonate with me as we begin these projects, especially during the month of November as we prepare for Thanksgiving. On behalf of the Library Staff and Library Board, we are grateful for the support of the community and the philanthropic organizations who are assisting us to reach our goal to provide a beautiful well-maintained building that we are all proud to visit and call our own.

In closing, I want to share a photo of the library building from 1940, decorated for the Bicentennial Celebration in all its grandeur. "Gratitude turns what you have into enough and more." I am certainly grateful for the library we have and I will continue to dedicate my time and efforts into making it more than a library, but a place for all of us to be proud of and a place where we come together to connect with one another.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving --  See you at the library!

Holly Bennett
Library Director, Information Conductor, and Community Ambassador
Harry Adams,
WWII Veteran &
Library Board Member

A resident of Nazareth Borough, Harry is a proud Veteran (he was a guest speaker at our 2016 Veteran's program) and serves on the Library Board. We are honored and humbled by his service to our country and to the library that he loves so dearly.
Harry enjoys reading non-fiction (especially historical and military books), and highly recommends Tom Brokaw's book, The Greatest Generation. He frequents the library, and believes that the library staff is our most valuable resource, and that our greatest services are those aimed at early literacy and teaching life skills to seniors. He encourages everyone to stop by the library because there truly is something for everyone!

In Harry's spare time, he used to be an avid skier, but stopped that activity just a few years ago; now he enjoys spending time with his family, rooting for Penn State, and cooking for his entire family on every game day!

Some of you might recognize Harry from the Nazareth Halloween Parade just a few weeks ago, he is a celebrated WWII veteran, and we encourage you to thank him for his service when you will undoubtedly see him around town and, of course, at the library!

The Library will close at 5:00pm on Wednesday, November 21st, and be closed all day on Thursday, November 22nd for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Regular hours will resume Friday, November 23rd.
