The TRIO SSS program is dedicated to providing invaluable resources that foster a sense of community and encouragement for all students. As we approach the semester check-in, we want to remind you of the supportive environment available to you through TRIO SSS. This check-in process is not just a formality; it plays a crucial role in your academic success and personal growth here at Tri-C.

Engaging in this process allows you to reflect on your progress, set new goals, and identify any challenges you may be facing. Its an opportunity to connect with your academic advisors who are eager to help you navigate your educational journey. They can provide tailored advice and access to various support services designed to empower you and ensure your success.

At Tri-C, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported. We encourage you to take full advantage of this check-in. Your active participation is essential not only for your growth but also for building a collaborative spirit within our educational community.

Lets work together to make this semester a fulfilling one! Take the next step toward achieving your academic goals. We look forward to seeing you soon!

A Surrogacy Story: Family, Society and the Health Care System

Monday, Oct. 7 | 12:15 – 1:15 p.m. | MCC 201

Guest: Kate Vodicka, Associate Dean of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences

In January 2024, Associate Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences Kate Vodicka gave birth to her sister’s son. For the previous nine months, she had carried him as a surrogate and, in doing so, entered a wild and often maddening world of health care riddles, legal mazes, and assumptions and expectations surrounding women and their bodies. Her fascinating story touches on issues of gender in health care, the politics of reproduction and the notion that “the personal is political.” You’ll also get to see a picture of a really cute baby.

Host: Matthew Phillips

Coproducer: Jessica McLaughlin

Sponsored by Stand for Racial Justice and the Cleveland Humanities Collaborative

Cuyahoga Community College's student basic needs program was awarded to Tri-C to enhance and expand the existing services established by the college through Benefits Access/Project Go!

Benefits Access/Project Go! provides free services to assist qualifying Tri-C students with finding additional resources to ease financial challenges so they may focus on their education. Using a holistic approach, Benefits Navigators are available to meet with students from any Tri-C campus either virtually, in person, or by phone to connect students to various community-based resource and service providers that provide food, health care, housing, childcare, and utility assistance to meet a student's basic needs.
