German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH) New York
Workshop and Panel on Contemporary Issues of Democracy and Education

DWIH New York, together with the University of Cologne's New York Office, is hosting a student workshop and public panel on March 10th at the German House, New York. The public panel is open to all and the student workshop is open to students in the fields of Social Sciences, Political Science, Philosophy, Education, German Studies, Modern Languages and European Studies.

Goethe Institut Webinars
“Studienbrücke Deutschland”

The Goethe Institute will be hosting two webinars on the “Studienbrücke Deutschland” scholarship program (which is supported by DAAD) on February 19 and 22. The program is designed to provide linguistic and subject-matter-specific preparation for studying in Germany to high school students who have outstanding achievements in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM subjects).

DAAD invites representatives from universities, research institutions, and funding agencies in the US and Canada, as well as colleagues from the fields of education policy and politics to join us for our 2020 Tour. that Germans celebrate Valentine's Day?

Despite its North American and largely commercial roots, Valentine's Day is now commonly celebrated in Germany, though not quite to the extent that Americans embrace the day of love. According to a Deutsche Welle article, "in Germany, only about 17% [of the population] are planning pleasant surprises for their partners on the occasion," which is a 2.6% decrease from last year's data. The reason for the decline? Population demographics. Regardless, Germans do celebrate, even if in smaller numbers. Eros, philia, and agape are, after all, universal concepts.
