that Germans celebrate Valentine's Day?

Despite its North American and largely commercial roots, Valentine's Day is now commonly celebrated in Germany, though not quite to the extent that Americans embrace the day of love. According to a Deutsche Welle article, "in Germany, only about 17% [of the population] are planning pleasant surprises for their partners on the occasion," which is a 2.6% decrease from last year's data. The reason for the decline? Population demographics. Regardless, Germans do celebrate, even if in smaller numbers. Eros, philia, and agape are, after all, universal concepts.
