Dear Christ Covenant Family,

We hope this finds you and your family doing well during these hot summer days. We have some important information and dates we would like to share with you regarding our life together as a church family.
Guidance from Governor Cooper
On Tuesday, July 14 Governor Roy Cooper announced that we would remain in our current phase 2 status for another 3 weeks which lasts until Friday August 7. Therefore, our current worship and on campus event planning will continue as before. We want to remind you of our commitment to a rigorous program of best practice safety measures on campus to include emphasizing the 3 w’s of wearing masks, waiting 6 feet apart, and washing hands. Our thorough on- campus protocols include electronic disinfection of the sanctuary between services and strong support for the prudent use of masks by all participants in our worship services and other on-campus events.
Sunday, August 9
On Sunday, August 9 we’re planning a special Lord’s Supper service at 3:00 pm in the afternoon for those in our church who are “high risk” to Covid, have other underlying conditions, or are hesitant about attending large gatherings. This service is limited to 100 people. We will require masks of those who attend and will practice widespread social distancing throughout the sanctuary. Please know that we hope to celebrate the Lord’s Supper once again in September during a morning worship service. The special Lord’s Supper service on August 9 is for those who fit the categories listed above. We ask that you sign up to let us know if you plan to attend either by clicking here to sign up , or contact Jenny Blackmon at 704-708-6104 or by email at jblackmon@christcovenant.org .
Sunday, August 16
We want to announce that our Session has called a congregational meeting to be held immediately following morning worship on Sunday, August 16. During this meeting we will vote on officer candidates and vote to dissolve Bernie Lawrence’s call at Christ Covenant Church.

We have put together biographies about each officer candidate for you to read and get to know them. You can find a downloadable version of these biographies by clicking here . Should you have questions for the candidates, each biography includes their email for you to reach out to them.

Please note that those who attend morning worship in-person on Sunday, August 16 will be voting on these nominees. We will not have online or advance voting available. If you would like to attend in-person worship on August 16, we ask that you watch for the online sign up that will be available beginning Sunday, August 9, at noon.
We ask that you not forward or post the biography information to other email addresses or to social media. Please join us as we pray for wisdom and for God’s continued protection of our church.

Thank you to the many who continue to faithfully give to Christ Covenant Church. Our ministries and our staff have been able to continue working during this unprecedented time because of your faithful giving. It is not uncommon for our giving to slow down during the summer months, but we want to encourage and to ask you to not stop giving during our summer months as ministries continue and many preparations for the Fall have begun. You can give online at christcovenant.org , give through the mail, or use one of the offering boxes if you attend in-person worship.

Lastly, we thank God for you and his provision for us to worship together in person and via livestream during these unusual times. We hope you share and will multiply our encouragement of being together this summer as a church family worshipping the living Christ.
In Christ,

Tom Groelsema, Executive Pastor
Sandy Spitz, Senior Director of Church Administration
