Family Employment Awareness Training (FEAT)

(virtual)

Families, transition age youth (14-21) & professionals

August 6 &12 - Virtual

Join us as we share information about the services, programs and supports available to support gaining and maintaining employment for youth/young adults who have disabilities. We will also share strategies for using person-centered planning to individualize transition services in the IEP and employment outcomes.

SHIFT Transition to Adulthood (in-person)

August 27 - Hays

Join us as we explore person-centered planning and learn about the transition process, Vocational Rehabilitation services, Independent Living Centers, Medicaid waivers and so much more. Families and youth will leave with a plan outlining next steps for their transition from high school to adult life.

Team Empowerment Conference & Education Advocate Training (in-person)

August 13 - Pittsburg

The day will be packed with information about free appropriate public education (FAPE), evaluations, individualized education programs (IEPs), least restrictive environment (LRE), procedural safeguards and discipline protections. We will end the day with some strategies for addressing challenging behaviors.

August 13 - Pittsburg (offered as part of our Team Empowerment Conference)

October 6 - Wichita
November 15 - Olathe

The Education Advocate training is for Kansas foster parents, adoptive parents, community volunteers and any other who wishes to help a child who does not have parents by acting on their behalf for special education decisions.

You will gain an understanding of your parent rights and leave with ideas, strategies, and resources for using person-centered planning to create an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that truly reflects your youth’s vision for a good life.
