Nearly four decades ago, residents of the Kennebec Valley first came together to celebrate the river that unifies our region. What started with a carefree race down the Mighty Kennebec River has transformed into the top-notch two week family festival we celebrate today! Festivities span over three weeks, beginning June 12th and ending on the 4th of July, with events available throughout the Kennebec Valley.
In 2019, we are proud to present hundreds of activities for all to enjoy from a bluegrass festival to craft fairs, waterfront concerts to sports tournaments, and the signature Kennebec River Day and Kennebec River Brewfest on June 29th! The Whatever Family Festival is a distinctive opportunity to experience the Kennebec Valley through a variety of free events.
This magnificent marvel of Central Maine would not be possible without the support and dedication of over 100 area businesses. Whatever you decide to do, you are sure to have fun at the Whatever Family Festival!

MaineGeneral Health
celebrated National Nurses Week by recognizing its latest and past DAISY Award-winning nurses during a celebration at the Alfond Center for Health. Honored guests at the event included Bonnie and Mark Barnes, co-founders of the DAISY Award and DAISY Foundation. The DAISY Award was created by the couple as a way to recognize exceptional care that nurses gave their son, J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of an auto-immune disease. His family was so impressed with the nurses who cared for Patrick that they created this award to thank nurses everywhere. MaineGeneral was the first hospital in Maine to adopt the DAISY Award, which thanks nurses for their skill and dedication. Since 2010, 103 MaineGeneral nurses have received the award.

MIFF is excited to announce that the winning artist for MIFF 22 is Shawn Brewer from Portland, Maine. In addition to receiving a $1,000 prize for his MIFF 22 artwork, Brewer’s work will gain exposure nationwide on posters, programs, advertisements, and MIFF-themed merchandise. Festival passes are now on sale on the MIFF website at www.miff.org.

Magnusson Balfour Commercial & Business Brokers has moved over to Keller Williams Reality. As part of this transition Magnusson Balfour has been restructured with Dennis Wheelock, along with two others, heading the leadership team. As a small business, Magnusson Balfour found much of their time and effort was spent managing back-end technology and day-to-day administration work that was taking time away from their most important job function: servicing clients. By moving over to Keller Williams Commercial, they have formed a strong partnership that allows them to benefit from the franchise’s national exposure, industry leading technology and training systems, and the capability to collaborate with other Keller Williams commercial agents. The services offered by the Magnusson Balfour team are still the same, ranging from commercial real estate sales and leasing, business brokerage, and buyer representation.
