Friday, May 29 

Blue Palmetto Dinner. Featuring Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, The Blue Palmetto Dinner is the State Party’s biggest fundraising event of the year and will be held in the Moore Building at the SC State Fairgrounds. In honor of democratic candidates running in all 124 state house seats individual tickets for delegates are $124 per person. Tickets for non-delegates are $150. There are opportunities for county parties to purchase a table. The Blue Palmetto Dinner begins at 7 p.m.


Parking is available by entering the State Fairgrounds North Gate off of Rosewood (near the Rocket). Parking is included in the cost of the dinner.

Jim Clyburn’s World Famous Fish Fry

Congressman Jim Clyburn will host his World Famous Fish Fry on Friday, May 29, from 8:30 - 11 p.m at EdVenture located at 211 Gervais Street in Columbia. The Fish Fry is free and open to the public and you will have time to attend both the Blue Palmetto Dinner and Fish Fry.

Democratic Women’s Breakfast

Join the South Carolina Democratic Women’s Council (SCDWC) breakfast begins at 7 AM at the Rosewoods Ballroom at the SC State Fairgrounds Tickets are $35 for SCDWC members and $45 for non-members.

State Convention Registration

We do our best to guess how many people will show up to the convention each year. Please register so we will know if you are coming or not! This helps us to plan and to spend money more efficiently. We are also requesting a $10 contribution/registration fee to help offset the convention costs.

Credential Pick-up

Goodman Building, SC State Fairgrounds 1200 Rosewood Drive, Columbia

Credential pickup for delegates will begin at 8 a.m. as you enter the Goodman Building on the SC State Fairgrounds. Counties will begin replacing absent delegates by credentialing their alternates at 9:15 a.mIf you are an alternate, check in at your county’s registration table when you arrive so they’ll know you’d like to become a delegate if there’s a vacancy.


SCDP Convention General Session

Goodman Building, SC State Fairgrounds 1200 Rosewood Drive, Columbia 

The Convention will convene at 9:30 a.m. Delegates will sit with other delegates from their county. Alternates will have designated seating behind the Convention delegates.

During the General Session, we will celebrate our historic field of candidates, elect a state party 2nd Vice Chair to fill an unexpired term, and hear from special guest speakers like California Congressman Ro Khanna. Delegates will debate and adopt resolutions and will take up proposed changes to the SCDP Rules. You will receive proposed resolutions and rule changes in time to read them before the convention.


Convention Parking is available by entering SC Fairgrounds Gate 6 off of Assembly.  


Gamechanger Luncheon

We will host a luncheon following the conclusion of the state convention (around 1pm). The luncheon speaker will be announced soon. You won’t want to miss out! Details will follow.


Gamechanger/Yellow Dog Lounge

Anyone who is a current member of the SCDP’s sustaining donor program, Gamechangers or who is a monthly donor to the state party and joined as a Yellow Dog Member, may go to the Gamechanger Lounge where food and beverages are provided during the convention hours. Gamechangers invest in the SCDP with a monthly recurring contribution or a one-time contribution of $120. You can become a Game Changer prior to the State Convention or at the Convention in the GameChanger Lounge.

Convention Committee Reports

Two committees will report to the Convention: the Rules and Credentials Committee and the Resolutions Committee. Both committee reports will be emailed to you at least 7 days before the Convention. Read them carefully so that you can cast informed votes.
