2026-2027 FAFSA Form Enhancements

FSA has shared some extremely exciting enhancements to the 2026-2027 FAFSA form, scheduled to open by October 1, 2025:

Instant FSA ID verification

  • Anyone with an SSN who creates a StudentAid.gov account (FSA ID) will be instantly verified with the SSA - no more 1 to 3 day wait. This allows students and contributors to create an FSA ID and complete the FAFSA in the same session, with immediate access to IRS tax info, if eligible.

Easier contributor invitation process

  • Students will no longer need to know their parent’s SSN or DOB to invite them to the FAFSA - they will now use a generated FSA invitation code to allow contributors into the form. More details to come.

Additional Summer Regional FAFSA Completion Workshops

Be sure to share this information widely with students and families!

This Education Explainer explores the history of these programs, their impact on Arizona families, especially those in rural communities, and the potential implications of reducing or eliminating funding.
