God's Work. Our Hands.
Sunday, September 8
“God’s work. Our hands.” is Sunday, September 8, 2019. This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.

Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.

You work every day to make your community a better place. Let us continue doing this work together in 2019! View the  video  and access  resources  to guide your congregation’s planning, promotion and more.

Although the second Sunday in September is the traditional date for the Day of Service, a congregational "God's Work. Our Hands" event can happen can happen anytime during the year. If September 8 doesn't work, schedule another -- or more than one -- Sunday of celebrating our chance to serve!
September 14 and October 5
Focus on meeting your training requirements! Stay in compliance with California Labor Laws.

California Assembly Bill SB-77 8   requires every employer with five or more employees to conduct sexual misconduct training by January 1, 2020. Regular employees must receive one hour of training and supervising employees must receive two hours of training.

While many insurance carriers and commercial providers offer this service online (check with your insurance provider), the SWCA Synod is also offering two sessions for those congregations that prefer an in-person session rather than watching videos.

Men’s Advance

Serving others is one of the central themes of Jesus’ Ministry. We are freed by grace to live faithfully, witness boldly and serve joyfully.
How do we find the time and strength to serve? During this year’s Men’s Advance, Pastor Marsha Harris will share her experience of serving others, and facilitate discussion on how we can find the strength to serve.
Autumn Renewal
"Sharing God's Love through Gratitude"
October 11 - 13 at CLU
Yes, everything is for your sake, so that grace, as it extends to more and more people, may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

How does living a life of gratitude impact who we are and how we relate to the world around us? What if we incorporated into our lives the daily practice of gratitude? What would that look like? Join us as Keia Morris leads us in Bible Study, Pastor Tracy Williams and Pastor Marta Salazar lead us in worship and Dona Kintzi and friends lead us in song.

We especially want to welcome our Latina sisters and plan to support them with Spanish speaking leaders and a sensitivity to their needs. We celebrate our diversity and thank God for the gifts that we all bring.

Early bird registration continues until September 1st. Register now to get the price break and assure your place at this Autumn Renewal!
