We really need Sunday school teachers for this coming school year! No experience is necessary and the curriculum is already chosen. A background check is required. Teachers work in pairs so you won't be by yourself. Sunday school is at 9:45am during coffee hour starting September 18th. Only light prep/materials gathering is neededeach week. Please contact Pastor Anne at
annec2003@yahoo.com if you are interested.

Farmer's Market Announcement |
Saturday, August 27th, 9am-1pm
Our church is going to be the featured nonprofit at the Farmer's Market in the Edgebrook School parking lot on Saturday, August 27th from 9am-1pm. We will have crafts and games for the kids as well as music. Stop by and help us greet folks who want to learn more about us! We will hand out brochures introducing ourselves and our programs.
If you would like to help out for just an hour, please contact Jean Reichenbach. We especially would love to have a few children or teens helping with crafts.

Lutheran Disaster Response |
Gulf Coast Flooding
Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
Historic floodwaters have required tens of thousands of people to be rescued and even more have been evacuated as rain sweeps across southern Louisiana. Floodwaters have affected communication, overwhelmed streets and highways, and damaged or destroyed more than 40,000 homes. This flood comes on the heels of several other floods that have hit the Gulf Coast region, starting earlier this spring.
Your gifts are needed to help respond to the Gulf Coast flooding. Your gifts through Lutheran Disaster Response will bring God's hope, healing and refuge to those who are affected by these devastating floods. Please give by clicking
here.

Edgebrook Back-to-School Coffee |
Tuesday, September 6th, 8am-9am
ELC will be welcoming our neighbors at Edgebrook School back for their first day of school the Lutheran way - with free coffee! From 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6th, we will have a table of free coffee and a few treats to welcome everyone back to school and to introduce ELC and everything we have to offer to families in the neighborhood. We welcome anyone who is available to greet parents and teachers (including Principal Weiden and other staff) for an hour and to join Pastor Joe, Pastor Anne and others as we reach out to welcome our neighbors.
Parents of Edgebrook students -- please stop by before or after drop off to say hello and welcome all your school friends to get some free coffee as well.
Our table will be behind the school near the basketball court (northwest side of the school).

Have you checked out the Garden of Eatin' lately? All produce from the garden is delivered to Open Arms Food Pantry (formerly Elijah's Pantry) in Logan Square. This food pantry serves hundreds of families each week and fresh produce is very much in demand. If you have any extra produce from your home garden, please bring it to ELC to be included for delivery to the pantry. Food is delivered from ELC on Thursdays. For more questions or more information, please contact Pat Morin or the church office.

On Friday, August 12 a picnic was held at Edgebrook Lutheran Church for the residents of the two Lutheran Social Services of Illinois CILA (Community Integrated Living Arrangement) homes that are near our church. Games were played, prizes were awarded to the winners, many grilled hamburgers with all the trimmings were consumed, and a fun time was had by all.
Thank you to Ben Crabtree for leading us in song. Your voice and guitar were much appreciated! Also, thank you to Ruth Ann Chaffee, Pastor Joe, Rodger and Joanne Friz, Neil and Renee Hansen, Judy Nelson, Jean Reichenbach and Carol Beu for all your help!
